Re: Destiny Fatebringer hand cannon out of foam

looks fantastic! how did you remove the pattern on the back of your foam so layers would glue together flush? Also what are you using to fill your foam pieces?

.

first i take off the diamond pattern with a belt sander, then i glue with contact cement, and clean with the dremel sanding drums
i seal carefully with modge podge matte and a sponge, thin layers, coat with primer then use automotive red putty in unwanted seams

Re: Destiny Fatebringer hand cannon out of foam

haha thats the bit of kit im missing then :p a belt sander
I use mod podge too for my foam builds, does the automotive putty ever crack in the seams and chip off? I wouldve thought that would happen as you are filling in a non rigid material with a rigid material

it wont unless you bend it or hit it very hard, the gun is not meant to be bendable, its a gun, people fill with wood filler and drywall filler those are solid too, i use automotive because it bonds better, also i use smal qty, if the gap is too big its more likely to crack or separate

Nicely done! Been wanting to try my hand at this foam stuff just for fun. Seems like a lot of foam gets turned into Destiny guns. :)

These look amazing!! If you dont mind my asking, how did you do the detail work on the back end of the g'horn. The little floral looking badges? Was that all foam as well or was it a clay mold/cast?
