Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

anyone can answer me directly
Hi Donald this is a foam builders thread not paper pepakura when using 10mm foam you don't need most of the little bits as you can get the detail from the thickness of the foam

Tbh not sure what he used not seen the post I used some plastic from the storage box I used for the arc triangle cover glued inside over eyes surrounded that with 2 of them 10" strips of LEDs the boy racers use on there cars and the light passes through the plastic making it glow and the wire mesh was left over from my predator bio it just helps hide my eye but let's me have clear vision

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Hey guys, been skulking around for a while and just finished this is 7 hrs flat, a little rough around the edges but hey I'm impressed, didn't think I would have the skills.

Quick question tho, I used the modified Stealth helmet pep file and it came up very small? What did I do wrong?

I just fits on the top of my head, I thought the standard file size would be good for the average head.

I may have messed up and used the LETTER files instead of the A4 ones as I am in the UK, but I thought even in that instance the difference wouldn't be sooo different.

Any ideas?

Thanx

DB
Ok the helmet is not a bad size as standard I have a huge melon and still managed to squeeze it on but it fitted like a mask and not a helmet so I increased it by 10% the problem you have with the ironman helmet is the shape it comes in at the back and also comes under the chin the beauty of foam is it flexes so just give it a good shove you may be surprised if not look at how the fibreglass boys fit there's they cut the back section off and fit it with magnets once the helmet is on

Does everyone scale the shoulder bells to the chest or to the arms or neither?

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Finally got my good friend in the Orlando area to do a photoshoot for my costume. While my costume is meh at best, I swear he can make anything look amazing through his lens.

Also I tested the red paint and I love it too.
Not the metallic look, but it dOes have a shine. Besides, all go for a battleworn (not damaged) look.

the part where i'm having the most trouble...how are you cutting your 45 degree angles and how do you know when to cut them?

any input would be greatly appreciated!

Agreed, would love to know as well.

Your best friend is the pepakura designer opened with the part your working on. The angle you need cut depends where the peice is located. For a 45°angle, I usually cut just one side of the 2 parts that are going to be glued together and just hold that angle as the hot glue cools. For 90° degree angles cut both sides.Just make sure you glue in small lines, like 1 to 2 inches, is easier to hold together than a 10 inch line of glue.

Hey guys I've been using Eva foam for my mark IV suit but a friend of mine suggested using minicel foam he said it was cheaper but its pretty much the same is that true or is there a difference? Thanks guys

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Ok, now it looks much more in scale... I think it must have been the angle or that the biceps wasn't 100% complete.

Right. That's good to hear coz I barely have enuff time to move this
Project along. Hope to paint these by the week!
