Death Star door control panel

I've been looking through their catalogs and it would appear they do offer lenses as small as 3 in and in various colors.

They are good looking and are available in various colors... 3 inches isnt that big (I'll leave that one alone) ... it could work?????

Hey Gang... A temporary solution...

So... what happens when you take a simple door stop and combine it with a set of simple reflectors?

The reflectors fit NEAR perfectly! There is a tiny bit of play but nothing that cant be fixed with a good adhesive (or you could cut the rubber stopper to fit and press against the reflector - that would minimize the amount of the light). There is sticky tape attached to the backside but can be easily removed and then shine a light through?

Looks good. I think they only issue is they are larger than the ones used, which I believe were about 2" diameter.

I may go that route for my CVI set. Thanks!

You're very welcome!!! I would suggest going to Home Depot for the stoppers. Lowes did not have a very good selection.

I found the reflectors at Lowes so I'm not sure if the Depot has them.

Here they are in various colors

Good luck!

I was hoping to of found the 'WB furnace' lens parts by now but just missed an auction for one before seeing this thread a while back (doh!). So, I've widened the search a little and, well, the Space 1999 variation reminded me of these two from Goldfinger...

Also, on the inside of the nook device are a few more different sized types. Ok the lenses are different but you can see the key to finding the real parts is in the bezel with that under-cut - must be from the same company.

WHAT!?!1!

Oh! Then there's this shot from Goldfinger (I don't have the BluRay to hand), behind Q on the panel you see the same lenses affixed in a very similar way to the rear side of the Millenium Falcon's center console.

I'm guessing these parts date back to around 1963-64 in this particular form and size, although they do seem to be ever so slightly larger. Would be nice to find them and get them used in these latest projects!

Just poking my head in over here. I haven't seen it mentioned (too obvious?), and I don't know if it's even helpful, but that's a fresnel lens. I guess if no one advertises it as such, then it's moot. So anyway...

Taillight King looks like an awesome source. I did a quick look-around on eBay UK and came up with a possible:

Ignition Red Panel warning lamp replaceable 12v bulb 18677 18678 18672 18674 186 | eBay

(Looks too flat, though.)

There's also this, but the lip on the lens, if it's exposed, is wrong.

FIVE Panel Indicator Lamp Neon Red/Green/Amber 110V/240V/230V. UK SELLER | eBay

Carry on!

Hmm...although they look smaller, those do look very similar. That looks like it might be one of the more probable roads to check down now since we know aircraft parts were used in SW. Nice find! :thumbsup

I work in a distribution office, and have to deal with semi trucks a lot. When I see those light caps it makes me think of Running Light covers.

I took a picture of one, and even though this isnt the one, Im thinking that it was a vintage version of these

It would make sense that they are running light covers because the bulb is on the trailer and not part of the cover, and since they get broken alot, they would be really cheap and easy to come by.
