Well seeing how popular this kit has become so far, I thought maybe we should start a new thread and consolidate all the great information and various other links to detailed parts as they come in in one place for all of us to enjoy and share. I'll attempt to keep all the most valuable links on this top post for all those that need it or want it so far. Join in and let us know where you're from if you've already purchased the subscription to it. If you still have no idea what this is here's a video about what it's all about:

Yes, this kit has providence back to the original 32" inch filming studio model.

Now if that doesn't spark your fire, here's a link from their website video about it:

And here's what everyone is waiting to get!

Now, that should have got your juices pumping. The website for ordering this "hunk of junk" is located here:

    http://www.model-space.com/us/build-millennium-falcon.html

It's a weekly magazine subscription, you are getting a pack of parts with every issue and there are 100 issues total. Making the subscription last for 25 months total. Each month you receive 4 issues at once. Each issue sells for about $14.99 making each month a total of about $66.29 a month (with shipping). Since this was first issued in the UK, they are ahead of us by about 8 issues so far (I think they have received up to issue 11 if I'm not mistaken). Now so far there have been some really excellent ultra detail parts that have been created at Shapeways. Some of the internal pieces aren't as detailed as you'd expect because it's never been done before to this exacting standard (for example, the console is a sticker attached to the plastic, it's a good print, but leaves alot to be desired). So some of our fellow modelers have come out with a bunch of 3D printed parts to fix that problem.

There are quite a few build logs that are being done (most from the UK builders)... here's a couple of the more informative:

The only way to make this thread work better than the original one is to constantly update your first post with the useful links and tips. Otherwise this thread will only detract from the original thread. There is also your blog thread and IIRC another build thread, I guess we have quite ample coverage now ;)

also a nice bit of info if correct from one of the forums.

"I’ve learned from Lorne Peterson that they painted the 32″ Falcon with a base coat (primered) of flat dark grey then the top coat of Floquil concrete."

floquil paints are available in the u.k. from the importers
    http://www.metalsmith.co.uk/floquil-paints.htm

there is aged concrete and concrete

pretty sure its not the aged one

EDIT..... now i read somewhere else its "grime" WHICH ONE IS IT!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for those. Been a great help detailing the notches etc. I had reference for most of it, but some of those were the icing on the cake. Should be ready to test some panels out on the Deagostini model soon. Obviously my nose cone fits, now it's time for a tunnel.

So I have heard for a long time that the base colour was Floquil Grime or Floquil Grime 50/50 with Reefer White. Now somebody is saying that it is Floquil 'Concrete'.

Does anyone have a definitive answer as to what the base colour actually was? If they do I would really like to know.

I'll share this in both threads for anyone that it may affect-

I only get paid once a month, on the 3rd, so it worked out this month that my payment posted today, but as was mentioned earlier in the thread, DeAgo are on a 27-day cycle. I called this morning & it was confirmed that my next payment was scheduled to post on the 30th of April. Don't know about everyone else, but I can't do 2 payments a month.

If anyone else is in the same boat, they WILL adjust your payment schedule to post on the same day of each month if you need them to. Of course, this means that after 10 months, I will be 1 shipment behind, but I'm very OK with that.

I just wanted to share the info since this is a budget stretcher for quite a few of us, & a few double payment months would be a bit of a killer. No complaining here. In fact, I'm very pleased that they were accomidating to my situation.

I just found some great interior set screen caps over on Full Scale Falcon. These should help anyone that wants to make their interiors look more realistic...

I know one pic that shows a lot of the seating detail that really shows off the detail behind the seats as well is this pic:

I received my first set of parts about a week ago. It looks really cool. The shipping troubles that the UK subscribers seem to be having makes me worry a bit. But it's early. I'll see if I get a second shipment around the end of this month.

Grime is spot on with the first batch of parts they sent out so I'd guess grime is accurate for the 32 inch, now if we could establish the rest of the colors. It should be noted that I actually have grime so I painted a piece of plastic and compared it.

There is a man on Facebook that is working on a set of specialized paints for the Falcon... all the colors that are needed. I'm trying to get some more info and as soon as I get some prices, details I'll share the info! From what I've seen of some of the pics, the colors are spot on.

    What reference is he using?

And who would this man be?

I am thinking that the red colour used on the Falcon is Floquil 'Caboose Red' which I believe was used for the red markings on the X-wings as well. I have some of these Floquil paints and as soon as I get time I would like to do a colour study of the 32" Falcon.

I have Floquil 'Grime' paint and as soon as I have time I will check it against the Deag parts as well. But lately, someone else has now said they talked with Lorne Peterson and he said that the Falcon was painted in 'Concrete'. (throws hands up in the air)

    So, who knows?

    Then it's wrong... :(

The red is not caboose red but more likely box car red. :)

I don't know MT... ask them! :) Personally I think the Candy Apple Red looks better, others like the Caboose Red. But there has been no evidence whatsoever that points to Boxcar Red. I like to think its more Rust Red. But it's no matter anyway seeing as the color red they used on the model isn't made anymore, and no matter what pics you go by each pic's lighting is different, so you end up with a close enough red regardless of what color red you use and unless you know exactly what brand and color that was used back in the 70's and have a paint sample of that red for color matching, every color you use is gonna be wrong! :)

I had always wondered if caboose red was the red used on the docking rings. Fine molds suggested russet which seems close to the parts we've gotten so far.

I was gonna say that too, the MR Falcon colours are probably wrong. The hull colour on the MR looks too light for sure.

I am going to try and hunt down some of the original Floquil paints that people have mentioned and see if I can figure something out with regard to determining some accurate colours.

Yanno... you'd do us all a solid if you could get ahold of Steve Dymszo and convince him to share the list of colors that he Pantoned off the studio model I'm pretty sure if you asked real nice and all or promised him you'd be a good boy this year, he'd give em to ya!! :) LOL

Sure, as soon as I get his phone number from you I'll call him right away!:)

I think if some these Floquil paints start to match up exactly with the colours on the Deago parts I'd say we are headed in the right direction at least.

By the way, I just received my FREE Binder. Wahoo!

    It arrived relatively unscathed.

Someone could try going into an established paint store (one that's been located in the same place for a long time maybe?) and ask if they have any reference books with the original colours? Maybe they haven't gotten rid of old stock? I doubt they'd have old paint tins lying around they would have been turfed long ago but reference books tend to be stashed away.
