Dunno if its an Avengers style or T.F.A stye they look similar in pep form haha its actually known as a generic hero helmet.... I think I will use the foam pep instead though, I will link you to them when im not using my phone, but the generic one like I say isn't sized so for someone like me who doesn't know how to resize files its useless lol

From what I've been reading/researching throughout the Forum - so much information - it can be quite overwhelming - one can certainly adjust the pep files and/or modify the cutouts for better fit for one's particular dimensions.

I only just recently started looking at Pepakura Maker - so I'm not yet completely certain how to modify a pep file within the PM user interface. If I find that information - or if anyone can chime in as to how it's done (or a resource for such) - it will be very helpful.

I have to say, I'm intrigued by member ColKel's STYRENE PEPAKURA METHOD.
I wonder how much work went into his IronMan helmet and/or what the process itself is.

Any thoughts/knowledge on this ??

Hmmm ... I see what you're saying about not being sure if it's a TFA or Avengers style.
At first glance (not being somewhere I can load it up and rotate it), it looks like a TFA version helmet.

Nevertheless, I'm almost positive one can modify the pep file within Pepakura Maker or one of the other compatible programs (at least I hope so). If so, then it hopefully shouldn't be too difficult to modify that base file into a DCUO FLASH helmet - perhaps even bringing in the chin section from the Dr.Doom helmet you were referring to.

No problem mate..... I am goin to try JFCustom's speed pep foam file instead, I do believe they are both T.F.A versions but regardless it can definitley work for this build.

Oh it's getting made dude.... by both of us, I'm sure we will have various differences in our builds which will come down to personal preferance etc and materials and stuff.... but I think both will end up looking great and will also be good coz we can help each other out

I mean, is it possible to modify/adjust the pep model in Pepakura Designer - prior to printing?
Or is that something that is done in a 3D modeling program?

yeah, you can't really mess with the model at all in designer in terms of proportions and such.
I guess the programmers respected the modeller's rights to not edit it once it was unfolded. I'm not too sure. It would have had to of been edited in the 3d modelling software again then imported to Pepakura Designer.

hence the reason I am just gonna use the parts from the Doom pep to add the chin guard.

you can see my modified Doom pep for my Cpt Britain helm in my thread above.... but obviously the eyes are the wrong shape for the Flash, so the Cpt America one is better suited... but with the chinguard.....

Okay ... well at least the issue/question of modifying the pep file in Pepakura Designer
(or some other program) has been answered.


Wish I had the know-how to be able to design my own custom helmet design/file
- but alas, not likely this old-dawg is going to learn that new trick anytime soon. :confused



I'm excited that there is shared excitement for this project. As I said early on, this DCUO Armored Flash literally screams "pep/foam build" and I know it can turn out awesome !!!

SDUK is obviously more ahead of the game than I am at this moment - as, comparatively, I am brand-spankin'-new to this whole wonderful world of replica costume/prop making. So, my next step, me thinks, is to start finding my local resources for the eva foam and other basic tools which STEALTH has identified in his awesome tutorial videos.

QUESTION:
I see a lot of other members' pep/foam projects and the foam they're using is white. (i.e. many Iron Man and Stormtrooper pep builds I've seen). Is this a particular brand of eva foam - or does the Best Step Foam come in different colors as well?

I realize, in the grand scheme of things, it likely doesn't matter.
Just something I've been wondering about during my fledgling RPF days.

No, foam comes in all different colors, my mate is just finishing his Iron Man and his was black, the foam I will be using is light blue, it doesn't really matter as long as you get the thickness you want to work with, I haven't used foam myself yet, but my mate has

it matters only in terms of quality. I tend to find those blue camping mats pretty bad and tend to rip as easily as thin craft foam. So, don't look at just the thickness. See how durable and dense it is.

I recommend that brand. it's just an option though.

yeah I plan on resin coating it when finished like some people do with the Iron Man builds

Why don't you just use cardboard instead of foam? It's just as easy and cheaper than spending money on foam since you're going to end up making rigid.
