Who is reading this series. I picked up DBDA1 on a whim and man did I love the book. The journal entry style takes a bit of getting used to but once you do it really sucks you in.

I was lucky enough to time the first book with the release of the second book and devoured both in less than a week. I am eagerly awaiting the third book.

As far as zombie books go you cannot go wrong with these.

Years ago, they had most of the story online. (or whatever they had written at that time) It really is an amazing series.

I've read the first one (loved it), & I just got around to ordering the second one last week, so it hasn't arrived yet.

But I'm anticipating greatness. :thumbsup

Read both books (finished the second one 2 months ago). The first book is much better IMO. It would be cool to see a film based on both of these. I'm anticipating a 3rd book, although I hope we don't have to wait years for its release.

i wasn't even looking for zombie books, they popped up when i was looking for survivalist books on survival bartering and how to build a bomb shelter.

I started reading the first chapter on the website. Looks pretty good. I will have to pick it up.

FINALLY!! I've been waiting for the second book for forever!!!

When J.L. Bourne first started his site he had more than the contents of the first book up online for people to read (he's since then cut the sample size down to what it is now on the site). It was great!!
When he finally published the first book I was upset to find out that the book ends several months before the online journal did. I know I'll be picking up the second book as well, but if anyone has read Beyond Exile already I'd like to ask whether the second book goes beyond where the older online journal had ended... please let me know via PM if you've read it and I'll ask... sorry to be cryptic, I just don't want to spoil any of the second novel for anyone.

Feel free to PM me and ask away. I have read the second one.

I finished the second book, too. I dig apocolyptic stories, not necessarily just zombie books, and these have plenty of that vibe, too. The whole surivial in a world turned upside down thing. Not so much a horror or gore novel, which is good with me.

Looks like a future book will be going off in an unusual direction! No spoilers...don't worry. The second book was a tad different than the first, too, but I liked both.

If I recall, the second book took a little while because the author was deployed to Iraq? So the guy probably knows his military details fairly well.

Yeah I actually discussed things with Bourne back in the Hotel23.com forum days. I was still on IAD when I first came across his manuscript so he and I had quite a few things in common then. He's been deployed overseas quite a bit, although not specifically to Iraq (at the time we were talking at least). He is a real naval aviator and flies P-2s, and would fly to Iraq from outside the AO.

Oh and I just sent a PM to you Jades!

I read it years ago online then recently bought the book not realizing it was the same thing. :lol Its been so long that I forgot most of it so it was refreshing. I'm looking forward to the next one.

love em both, although the 1st ones best,if you love this you've gotta read
Plauge of the dead(the morningstar strain) and
Thunder and Ashes, both by the late and much missed Z.a.Reich..(there is a 3rd but Z passed away with it unfinished)
Z was a friend of J.L.Bourne,and they are the best zombie writers out there,i can read their books again and again

Great books and looks like they're going good places.

I just bought Handling the Dead by the guy who wrote Let the Right One In. I'll report back if it's any good...

Responded :)

He still talks to people over at the hotel23 forums.

Started reading Handling the dead,it didn't go anywhere for me,gotta finish the 3rd Gears of war, book , then it's The night of the living trek.
i'm a zombie nut and for every good book there's 5 bad ,some writers seem to like the ultimate doom ending,Brian Keene is one of them ,i stopped buying his books as they became depressing,no hope,no reason to carry on,pity as they all start real well

Thanks for the recommendations! I read World War Z last christmas (Max Brooks)... and I loved it. The oral history of the great Zombie apocalypse. I'll have to check these out now.

I am downloading Plague of the Dead on iTunes right now.

I have read good things
