Darth Vader Chest Box: From ANH to ROTJ

But at this point I'm still on the fence.

So even after all the pictures I've shown here, your still on the fence? That's good,
because it's a testimate to the hard work that I put in to making this...Thomas
I couldn't tell you how many hours I spent working on the placement of the
parts, making sure the angles, positions and distance apart were abosolutely perfect.....
I think I drove my Girlfriend nuts over it, because every time I would ask her
how it looked she would say "it looks great" and I would say "Hmmmm something
still isn't right" lol :D

But keep in mind that I didn't say anything about recast

Thomas, if you don't think it's a scratch built box then what exactly are you
implying it is? Your comparison photo's come off as you trying to prove my
box to be a recast...... nothing else..

We can go back and forth all day about this box and you still wouldn't believe
me. You say you look foward to being proven wrong? I mean this with all the
respect, but you have been proven wrong.. I've shown the base, rockers,
and coin slots in the clay stages, and what it took to get it to the final piece,
I've even proven by removing the pieces on the master that the box is not a
solid recast box, but in fact a Chest Box that was assembled piece by piece..
What more could you want to make you happy I ask....

Thomas I hold no grudges towards you for any past we've had and at our last
conversation I honestly thought we were beyond this type of thing. You say
that your not with those guys and I'll take your word, but I have to ask, why is
my work (out of the thousands of people on this board) the only work that your
trying to debunk?

Awesome thread Doug!:thumbsup You have that uncommon god given sculpters eye for detail that alot of us in this world wish we had but dont. What you have created here using your talents is just plain amazing!:cheers Anybody who has the eye to create a mini Vader helmet from scratch like you did, which was nothing short of incredible btw, can do anything!

Well done on these boxes bro!(y)thumbsup:cool

Rick, those are some huge compliments. Thank you.....
That means a lot to me, and thanks for the compliment on
my Mini Vader :D I almost forgot what a pain in the butt
that little Chest Box was to make, I like the way that it came
out even in it's tiny detail

I love this picture :) , but I've never shown it publicly :(

Man, I wish I would have picked one of those up when you were doing them Doug! Did I mention you had a sculptors eye!:)

Ok, to get back on topic. ;) Here is the picture of an ESB chest box
being worn in the fight scene for ROTJ.. Like I said the credit goes to
Gino for the find and for this very well done comparison picture that clearly
points out the details of the ESB Chest Box and that same Box used as a
stunt box in ROTJ...... Why they didn't use this box in the entire movie is a
mystery, but I have the feeling that because they needed a couple boxes
for the movie. one hero box and one stunt box, they just decided to sacrificed
the ESB because with only a few mods they could save a lot of time, effort and
money on the final suit..

Excellent work, all around!
Such accurate details that shelling out a bundle for a cast piece seems pointless. My eyes hurt from the minute details you're captured. :thumbsup

Thanks JJ, much appreciated :). The bad thing about cameras though is I
couldn't capture all the fine detail that I added on my ESB box. Anyone who
bought one will see the time that went into these once I get them shipped..;)

Yeah I agree. Cast off original pieces are cool, and I would buy the hell out
of them if I had the money, but the reality is not everyone has pockets lined
with gold, that's partly why I started this project :)

Thanks again....

I have been reading up on what I can find of your work on these boxes Doug. I quite honestly didn't expect much of a wow factor back when you and I struck our little deal for one of these boxes. I had glanced at your thread over on the SLD just to see how you were doing on these every now and then. Then delivery day came. I got the package from the postman and just threw it into the car as I was running late. Hours latter when I returned home I picked up this card board box to finally see what Santa Doug had sent me. After digging through packing material, I found the chest box wrapped in bubble wrap. I was a little shocked to see the shape that was covered by the wrap had uneven, distorted sides. I think that I was expecting to see the usual fan made even and smooth type of thing. I should have known better.

Doug, what can I say. This chest box had me very pleased even before I got the wrapping off from it, and I'm still catching myself smiling at newly discovered details. I want to thank you very much for all of the hard work that you put into this piece, they would be a bargain at twice the price. And lastly. I wish to thank you for the unexpected honor of receiving the first numbered copy of this fine reproduction. Please let me know when you start your next project. I don't even need to know what it is. I'll just send you a deposit, and then months latter you can again surprise me with this eye candy.:cheers

Thank you so much Kent
I can't even tell you how much I appreciate your kind words. I'm usually happy
just knowing that you guys are happy with my work, but when I read stuff like
this it really does make me speachless, but it also drives me to work harder
and harder on new projects.. Thank you!
