Darth Maul Fabric and Patterns??

That's perfect! That's a lot of reference. In addition, the Gino's Maul belt looks to has a leather strip on the rear which covers all the velcro, but there is not any kind of leather strip.

Oh, and please, can you post a pic of the entire 1st belt opened? Do I explain? A pic where the entire 1st belt can be seen and fully opened. I need it to do a good pattern then I can post it here :)

I mensioned this earlier that my seamstress can make this happen. If I have patterns, she can easily make anything. There didnt seem to be much interest though. Please let me know if anyone is interested. She will work for VERY fair prices. One example is that she makes the boba flight suit for $125 where others are asking $200.

I'm going to try next week to get patterns made, so we can see what happens after that I suppose. I think Kwally89 is planning on sewing them himself, but it could be an option for others.

I'm also planning on sewing it myself, I just can't afford a seamstress. :unsure

Ya, I do a lot of sewing and will do it myself unless your your seamstress is VERY cheap. The problem would be to get her the screen accurate fabrics which will be costly before anyone even touches them with a needle. I also just bought some busts, Fett pieces and I'm trying to get son Titans.....I also have a wedding coming up!

What are you estimating the fabric costs to be?

What are you estimating the fabric costs to be?

Hmmm, I don't know an exact number yet, but here are some breakdowns.

Crinkle Silk (chiffon, crepe, etc): $5-$17 a yard
Linen (light-medium to heavy): $7-$20 a yard
Silk Noil (raw silk): $7-$18 a yard
*supposedly not used in stunt costume, but I love this stuff! :unsure
Robe fabric (tussah, Indian woven fabric, idk!): $13-$25 a yard
*will need a lot!!
Black satin lining: $5-$12 a yard
Black leather (pigskin, lamb...idk yet): $12-30 a square foot notyard

These might not be the EXACT fabrics, but they are some of types that I have found and got samples for. The total cost will probably be close to $100 if you get high end stuff.

I'm sure we all appreciate the help, but if you haven't yet heard from anyone, it is perhaps because they are set on either doing it themselves or have someone already lined up.

Edit: Here's my breakdown. I submitted it about the same time Kody did, so I had to go back and edit.

I don't know what Kody has found, but generally speaking here's a sort of ballpark idea so you can kind of know what to expect.

Under tunic - Approximately 2 yards of lightweight linen (if I've been following corectly) averaging about $11-15 a yard.

Over Tunic - Approximately 4 yards heavyweight linen that could run anywhere from $16-25 a yard. Equal amount of Rayon lining $10 yd

Pants - 2 yards of what looks like heavyweight cotton gauze. Probably around $10 a yard if you find it.

Sash - 2 yards considering it is cut on the straight of grain and you want an unbroken length. You can do one if you don't mind a seam. Around $18-22 a yard.

Robe - This one will suck up some yardage on account of those pleats. Probably looking at around 4-5 yards just for the hood, pokey sleeves, and yoke. The pleats themselves could use up 4-6 yards of fabric. I know that Tussah runs $26 a yard from Thai Silks

I think you'll easily break $200.00 in fabric alone for this project. $300 if you do the robe.

EDIT: Nothing, nothing, Don't care about this post :).

I will need to ask for prices, but here the fabric goes a bit more expensive... :confused

Really? Is it there? And it looks like the one of the Pepsi? Bigger?

Ya, last night I zoomed in on Gino's statue, and I didn't see it. Granted, it was midnight, and I looked for a whole 2 seconds. I could have easily missed it.

Gino's doesn't have it on there because the one that went with my costume was vanished before I got it and he didn't want to guess at one so he left it off. But it is on the original.

Here are the Loin Cloth patterns:

Actually you must wait to finish it because it goes sewn with the belt and I haven't done the belt pattern yet.

If you want to start with the loin cloth you must print 2 times all the parts to get the full pattern (or just 1 if you can do it with half pattern, it's simmetrical), oh, and you must'n add any print scale. The option which says "Scale Page" you must select "None".

For get it correctly sized you must align the vertical lines and also the big horizontal one.

Then cut the satin fabric and the silk with this pattern.

After, you must sew both following the stitch line, except the horizontal line at the top, it's there for future purposes.

When it's sewn, you must turn the fabric inside out and voilá, the loin cloth is done!

PS:I will do a detailed post with pics when I sew it :thumbsup

You made this yourself? Well done my friend! Thanks for sharing! We can cross reference whatever patterns you make with the patterns that Eopie (hopefully) is going to have made from his Pepsi Maul.

That would be awesome, I have used the Pepsi statue patterns for it. I can do the belt one, but I still need a full opened belt pic to do it. When Eopie post the pic, if it's possible, then I will do it, if not I must wait for his patterns ;)

BTW, I have seen that the Gino's Maul has the corners a bit rounded, I don't know if they're this way on the costume, but I have done the pattern as it looks on the Pepsi costume. :thumbsup
