Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **Update Jan 3, 2013**

Brace is really usefull. It allows to adjust the position of the chest (and thus, the back).

The MK4 (but you'll understand when you download robo's file why I say Mark 4-6 folder) is the brace to use indeed. And it is the same scale used in Mark VII chest!

So, it sound like there are errors on one or more of the unfolds... am I understanding that correctly? You can add the tabs back in using Pep Designer. You can even put tabs on edges that are not connected to anything if you want.

Not necessarily. Those extra solid lines are negligible, and I didn't have to cut them. I scored half of them to make the piece bend into shape but the rest I didn't even bother to touch.

P.S. I forgot to mention that I'm only referring to the V2 helmet.

@ agassparkle:

In Designer:

Goto "FILE"
Then "PRINT AND PAPER SETTINGS".

For "PAPER SIZE"; select A4 (should be at the top).

Rearrange the Pieces so they're not on the dotted lines in the view window on the right, Save, Print.

Hey guys. I was thinking on What part to start with for my Iron Man suit. i am quite new at Pep and thought to try the abs and cod first to find out my perfect scale. Is this Recommended? Could I please have some advice.

Also is there a release date on the v2's, so I can decide whether to wait or make it now.

Thanks

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **Update Jan 3, 2013**

hey Richie11:

if I were you I'd start with the shin, it's fairly easy to do, and you can get the howl thing on and off when it's done

I found a method to fine the scale that I use and that works for me...
you find a pic of the suit (from top to bottom) that you'r going to build,
print it out and measure it
for example the printout I have is 27,9 cm tall
then measure your own height, in my case it's 194 cm
so then you say 194 divided by 27,9 = 7 the magical number
and now you can use this to say,
the height of the shin (on the pic) * the magical number (7) = the height of the shin or part IRL
I hope you got all of that because I'm sorry to say that I can't remember the name of the guy that came up with this method
and if he reads this post pleas feel free to correct me or comment

Very nice, I wish I had a Hot Toys figure or that NECA figure. It would be so helpful to be able to see it from any angle. The NECA isn't out yet and the Hot Toys are too pricy.

I wish the Kotobukiya was more accurate. Anyways, I am sure that some shots of it could still help fill in the blanks so-to-speak. I am redoing the back now so could you do some shots of the back while rotating the statue. Try and get as many angles as you can. For example, start on the right side, take pic, rotate 5-10 degrees, take pic, rotate, take pic, etc... And then do a downward angle in the same manner and an upward angle in the same manner. You can send me a PM when you are done so I can get the pics. ;) Thanks for the help.

It is just that seeing pics of it and actually holding it in your hands is two different things ;) But still pics are better than nothing.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **Update Jan 3, 2013**

I dont think using hot toys as reference for the back would be a good idea ..
Since the backpiec is the only unaccurate piece of ghe hot toys you should used the blueprints of the mark 7 with no backpiece, model it and then add the shoulder pod and flaps

I am going to do it this way for the HD model. The LD model will just have the outer shape. Also, I am not putting all my eggs in one basket if you catch my drift. Just as you all saw the montage I put together on the part of the collar that I was asking about, I also look at many different pictures from several different reference sources for all the parts I am modeling. I don't just take one source and run with it.

what blueprint are you using and where did you find it ?

Yes, do tell... are you just referring to the side, front, and back views that we already have or something else?
