hi mike ahm i would like to ask how can i resize my work ...

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **New Request on Opening Post**

Yeah... what I do is let people request certain sizes (since i have the time to do it), i just resize the files, and post a download for it as well.

But like you said, you're very busy, and cant do that.

I understand.

Yeah but even if I did that people would still not be able to get a custom fit with each part having the same scale. Then there is the whole trial and error part of it too. They think they need a scale 24 but then that is too small so they come back and ask for a scale 25 but that was too big so they now need a 24.5.

It seems that doing it that way is destined for trouble. :behave

hi mike ahm i would like to ask how can i resize my work ...

Well there is a lot of info on that topic all over the place. It can get a little complicated... see above comment. Try watching the tutorial videos that our fellow member STEALTH posted on youtube. You can look him up via his channel 'theherotutorials'. Good luck with it.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **New Request on Opening Post**

First,

I salute you darkside for everything you've done with your builds. These files are a privilege, not a right. And that goes for everyone who helped take the time to make my suit happen.

Second,

Making my suit happen is taking longer than I thought. That being said, any advice on how to speed things up in the pepping stage? Taking forever and am willing to pay someone to cut while im at work.

And cut faster isn't the advice I have in mind. Already crossed that bridge :)

Thanks for your appreciation. I use gel control super glue to assemble my parts. It is fast drying and allows just enough time to align the edges correctly. I don't know of anyone that would cut out your suit for you while you work, but if you are gonna pay someone to cut for you then you could just not go to work and cut it yourself, j/k. See more advice listed below.

Close but the Craft Robo and the Silhouette SD have been discontinued. You might still find a used on on ebay now and then but I recommend the new Silhouette Cameo! In case you don't know what these machines are, they are cutters. They take a vector image and cut it out of vinyl, cardstock, and many other materials. The new machine is faster, quieter, and can now cut 12" wide in case you also want to do large vinyl graphics and/or banners. As I mentioned above, I helped to get the Pep Viewer for Cameo program off the ground. This program take the PDO file and sends all the cutting info directly to the Cameo. There are a couple of tricks to get it working at 100% so if you go that route let me know and I can offer more assistance.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files

hey guys, I was wondering if you could help me out

so far I've built the bottom half of this armor, but when I start working on the forearm and entering my scale -the model seems to be off scale - I'm 5'5 so I'm entering 280 mm in height for the lower forearm but for some reason the width of the armor ends being 272 mm (10 inch) - I dont think the lower forearm is that wide. Am I not measuring correctly or is it something else?

Thank You
I think you need to scale it by the percentage, not by adjusting the lengths of you height, width and length. That's probably why you're getting weird proportions because when you change the size of one side, the two other sides remain their original size. I'm not sure if this is the problem you're facing, but I hope this helped ;)

I don't think you are correct. I have never gotten the results you are saying. If you set the height then the length and width also change to maintain the correct proportions of the 3D model.

It sounds like he is setting the height on the part to be too tall. As a result the width is also too tall. With a height of 280mm the scale is like 47 which is way too big. I would suggest using the measurement tool. Right-click in the 2D window and at the bottom of the pop-up menu select the measurement tool. At a scale of 23 the lower forearm is just over 7 inches long (not including the missile pod part. At the widest point it is 4.5 inches wide (not including the missile pod). This works well for me and I am also 5'5".

Part of the problem may also be that the part is not presented vertical so the 'height' of the part is actually the depth (from the inside of the forearm to the outside of the missile pod) and the depth is actually the height or length of the forearm. Also keep in mind that the forearm is a 2-part assembly. So the upper forearm will add to the height/length of the lower forearm to cover more of your arm. Hope that helps.

ps - i don't know how you got 272mm for the depth if the height is 280mm... the depth should have been 250mm. If it is possible to adjust only one axis then I would like to know how cause that could help to solve some fitment issues for really short, tall, or bulky people.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **New Request on Opening Post**

Spectacular files! However, they have for some reason been removed. Every time I click the link, it goes to skydrive and it says they have been removed: https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=21209EBD4D8A434F!269
"This item might not exist or is no longer available
This item might have been deleted, expired, or you might not have permission to view it. Contact the owner of this item for more information. "

When I click on one of the images, it sends me to a link, it reads: https://public.bay.livefilestore.co...vCmMpYyQbsyhrVzaQ/Mk VII Handplate.png?psid=1

Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks! I cant wait to get started on this build for Halloween, haha

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **New Request on Opening Post**

I´m posting just to state for all to see that -

A) These files ARE better than advertised. MUCH better than you guys can imagine.

B) I am in debt with Darkside, for even though they were down, he kindly sent them over to me via e-mail, and now I can move on with the build I´ve gotta do. Mike, I owe you big time! Thank you very much! :)

And C) Did I even BEGIN to tell you how AWESOME this creation of Mike´s is? Seriously, if one wants to make the Mark VII, THIS is the way to go. I made mine all by eyeballing it, but now I feel as if I´m taking the game to a WHOLE new level!

looking forward to seeing this next level of the suit~!

Thanks Hermes, That is quite a compliment coming from someone who makes as many good looking costumes as you do. I really liked the first Mk VII you built so I can't wait to see how this one comes out.

Just so everyone knows I try to help people out but I don't have the time to email the files to everyone so please hold off on contacting me with that request. I should have the links back up soon.

Pep Designer will allow you to save the files you edit so you don't have to change the scale and move everything around again. Pep Viewer for Cameo is what you need to connect to the Cameo and cut your parts out.

On a side note, the version 1 pep files and foam templates are back up and I have set all parts to a scale of 23. I have added a password to the files in order to view them with pep designer. PM me for password. All files are still free.

Thank You Darkside501st, I really appreciate your advice -- I've only been able to build halo armor, so I tried applying the same method on the Iron Man armor.

This is the measuring guide I used: "HaloGoddess How To Scale and More Tutorial" - I can't find the link anymore since 405th is down. I"ll attach some photos she had

Hey guys I tried going through these pages to see why the biceps fit a little funky. Can someone enlighten me on the problem/solution or at least direct me to what page its on. Thanks in advance

I see, I always thought it would warp the model if you only scaled one side.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **Links Fixed and New Update**

So, I have what may be a stupid question but I'd rather ask a stupid question than make a stupid mistake because I didn't. I'm currently working on the Mk VII chest piece for my stepdaughter and I've hit a bit of a grey area in my knowledge.

Refering to the picture I've attached to this post, the pieces on the right that I've circled are supposed to all join together to make the side part circled on the left, however to do so it will cause the resultant piece to be around 4x thicker than the piece to which it is attaching. How is that supposed to work? Am I correct in assuming that rather than layering each of the 4 pieces on top of each other they are supposed to be adapted into one piece? Or are they all supposed to be layered and then attached Or is there something I'm missing here...

I have limited internet access at the moment otherwise I'd check out all of the Hero Tutorials etc on Youtube, but seeing as I can't right now I thought I'd try my luck here.

Any help would be appreciated.
