I use 175gsm (g/m²) A4 paper. No problem with it.

Hi guys, nice progress from many colleagues in their costumes.

I'm still alive and fighting hard to assembly the back.

I'm documenting all the process and thinking to create a topic to show many tips about the assembly, very detailed topic about this:

- How to scale (technics)
- Material and tools, what use and technics
- Organization of the cutted parts (in my case, living in a very small apartment it is very very important)
- Electronic parts (what use, arduino and etc.)
- Fiber process applying
- Finishing
- and much more.

Did you understand? What do you think about? Every detailed step in only one material.

I would like to have your help to mix the best ideas in this material.

And to finish I would like to get the permission from Darksider to do this considering that he is the responsible to able us start this amazing project.

Thx!

Well, you don't need to ask my permission to write a guide on pepakura. I would say that you should create a new thread for it as it seems you want to make it a topic for discussion and I want to try and keep this thread on track. You can post a link here to your thread and when you are done with the guide you can post a link to it here as well.

hey darkside, is it possible to get a .93 size for the helmet in pepakura and in letter? .91 is a tight fit (makes the side of the helmet bulge out) and the .95 looks enormous on me.

Yes, look for this a little later today.

hey guys , what weight paper do you suggest ?

Here in the USA we recommend 110lbs cardstock.

Very nice

OOO... I like! :p

Thanks guys, glad you like it.

@ streetsoul - This is the LD version. I am making this as easy to build as possible while still looking top notch. The Chest is separate from the back and the collar pieces are separate from the chest. The back is one piece but gives the impression it is more due to the recessed layers. The flaps are all part of the one piece back so they are not separate as in the V1 files... the V2 HD files will have movable flaps.

These are not available yet as I want this suit to be as accurate and functional as possible. As I was finishing the back I had to tweak the chest that I made in several places. So I will probably have to tweak more parts as I finish the neck, midsection, etc...

THAT IS AWESOME! Are you gonna use the same 3D models for the LD and HD files, just with different unfolds? Again...just amazing work man. That's movie quality right there. :)

That was unexpected!

That look amazing, I've just finished building the V1 Chest and back with additional flaps last week. I'm going to keep going with what I have, but now I want to come back and build it again :).

Wow! Great work. Makes me want to start working on a MK VII now.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **Update Jan 3, 2013**

Well, when the cut lines and fold lines are so closed together, I prefer to fold than to cut. If I haven't at least a couple millimeter to properly fold a tab, I find it easier to treat it as a fold line.

So in theory, you have to cut as krizalid says. In practice, you'll may choose to fold those or cut and add a tab under those parts.

Yep I suggest the same thing. This what I was to referring to a while back in the thread as "negligible" solid lines. In theory they should be cut, but sometimes they don't make a difference so you might as well leave it as it is or fold it to allow positioning the part correctly.

Thanks everyone. I strive to impress. lol

@ jasonamigo23 - The shape of the 3D models will be the same but the HD files will have separate flaps, detachable packs/covers, and more detail. The LD file will look just as good if you have a pic of them side-by-side but the HD files will be for the builder that wants a bigger challenge or wants to do more with his/her suit.

Hello guys! :) I'm a bit new to pepakura and I wanted to ask, what is the best way to make pepakura stronger, besides using fiberglass? Will paper mache work? :eek
And by the way, darkside501st, you are like a GOD, the suit is amazing and when i saw it for the first time on pics i was literally speechless! :D keep up the good work! :)
