Visited a propmaster friend of mine while in LA yesterday, who happened to have these in a box on top of his bookshelf.
On the left is the Hero photo that he puts in the machine to create his "face" masks and on the right is one of the untouched photos it was made from.
He said the made 100s of the pictures and burnt most of them until Sam Raimi picked the one shown on the left.
