Dark Rey's Ep IX lightsaber [maybe SPOILERS inside]

I know. You don't need to state the obvious, buddy.
Supposedly,
This saber has a very short screen time (around 1 min or less) according to the leaks)

So, however many versions they made of this saber, I'm only interested in what was used on screen.
Never stopped anyone before. I mean, the hero Luke saber is probably the least used version from the film, yet it's the one many people recognize. Episode 3 vader sees no screen time. So on. Where there's a saber, people will want it.

Has anyone been able to identify those red booster parts? I'd be surprised if they were machined from scratch, looks like an existing part that was repurposed.

Hello all. Noob here first post!
The folding part of this saber is the side folding hinge from an ar15 side folding stock. It is readily available from many places including “air soft” versions that are under 20.00. I’m sure this is already known, but just in case I joined to say this. Ima fan of the site

Thanks for the link. I've looked quite a bit for an accurate and inexpensive version of this part. I can't find one that does both. If it's accurate it cost $100. If it's under $20, it doesn't really follow the look of the original and creates a boxy appearance to the saber. But maybe this wouldn't be that big of a deal for people since this saber might not be featured too much anyways.

I've drawn up plans for this saber and plan to do a small run. Figuring out what to do with the adapter is holding me up.
Do I buy a bunch of accurate adapters and tack $100 onto the cost of an accurate kit?

Do I include an inaccurate adapter this is cheap and tell people, they can upgrade it themselves by buying a hera sfu?

Or do I sell saber parts without the adapter included and let people source that part on their own?

Personally, I would build it with the utg type as the threads will be the same for the more accurate one. I know from reading here that some folks are sticklers and some just like cool things. I have 3 different versions here on rifles. Honestly the utg is solid.
For myself I would accept not perfect but darn close. I look forward to seeing your kit

Love it! For me I'd be ok with just the two ends without the hinge and people can get their own hinge as long as the sabers are threaded correctly according to the Hera arms version which I still believe is the one that was used at least on the eFX version.

Are you doing a run of the eFX version or the screen one? Pretty sure there are differences between those 2.

I would be interested if Anakin is doing a run. Maybe give us the option to source the part so we could make a “real parts” version of the saber.

Something to note. Folding stock adapters SHOULD insofar as I know all share the same threads. The receiver side of the threads (male) have to match the (female) threads in the upper receiver of the AR (this is a unified standard thread shared across all AR type rifles regardless of make)... the stock side thread is likely the same to allow for ambidextrous folding and I'd be shocked if both sides of the adapter are different.

logic then would dictate that the UTG and the HERA both share the same threads and for both sides of the adapter. (1 3/16" - 16 TPI)

I dunno, these days it's so easy to scratch-build almost anything...

Supposedly the two extra screws on the XLR are to stabilize the Hera design which rattles a little. Unclear if they modified the actual part or remachined a complete copy. It seems likely they were all made at the same factory.
The Hera could always be accurized with a small mod to the XLR version, but not vice versa. I'd stick with the Hera for now.

The EFX should be screen accurate as it's based off direct research from an original.
There's at least no good information to contradict what they've shown.

This is correct. They all have the same thread size and diameter holes. One hole is a male thread, one female

IMO I'd stick with an accurate adaptor. Maybe have the option to purchase with or without one.
No need to involve the UTG at all. Leave that to the individuals. Personally, spending all that money on a replica and cheaping out on the adaptor is a waste.

I can see a few differences between the screen version already and the eFX version - If you look at HD screencaps on some of posts above you can guess that the red booster has a larger diameter than the rest of the body on the screen version, but not on the eFX one. I can see other minor differences too.

Yah, the EFX and the screen version are not identical.

EFX could be accurate to a different version of the saber, but for now it can't be called screen-accurate unless an identical looking one shows up in the final cut of the movie.
