"Your Father's Lightsaber" Luke ANH with Crystal Chamber

No problem Jm419. :thumbsup
PS, it's really cool that you have a saber built with all original pieces, so because of that you really should consider adding a set of my grips to it to finish it off.
For it to have everything else but skimp on the grips is not doing the rest of your prop justice.
Just let me know.

Well, as your stuff is no original part, only a todays copy of the vintage stuff, not even from the same production line, it would be also with your parts no Screen-Accurate All-Real Parts Replica.

Jm419, I think it looks great - i would leave it as it is, with the memory and the feelings you have expressed in your first post here. :thumbsup

Beauty. I too am a huge Luke ANH saber fan. It's the one screen somewhat accurate prop I have. It is true, we debunked the windshield wiper grip theory a few years ago, but rubber does feel better. The only thing I would change, weather it. My 3-cell is all sorts of beat up and looks even better that way as that's the way it came into Luke's hand. Awesome work!

Hey, GINO,

Thanks, but I'm a poor college student, lol. The grips I have are good enough for me, and besides, my dad built the outside for me; I wouldn't change that for the world. Thanks for the offer, though.

As for weathering...eh, maybe. I might just have to get another Graflex to do that, this one's too pretty.

Can someone point me to a thread that explains how we know what the original material for the grips is?

No worries. Welcome to the RPF, you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and prop knowledge. ;)
Some of the most amazing Luke ANH saber discoveries have been made here over the past 8 years including the grip material, number of grips (5 vs 6), and the Mylar tape not being accurate. Lot's of amazing knowledge here.

...aren't there seven grips on the ANH?

Holy cow. That's what I call a prop replica presentation !

Well done Jm419, your heart is spot on in the right place :)

Hey, everyone, I'm glad you like it!

@ JediTrainer:
You flatter me, lol. I suppose it's like the EFX because it doesn't light up, but I'd say theirs is a bit nicer than mine, lol.

Thanks Alan and Peagis.

Love the write up at the beginning.
What was your inspiration for the crystal chamber is it based on any reference or all your own creation.

Great thread and a beautifully executed prop. Nothing like your first accurate graflex.
Of all the sabers I've bought, sold, and traded over the years I still have my all vintage parts (except for grips, of course) Luke ESB saber and it's my all time favorite and the only one I'd never consider parting with.
