Daft Punk Thomas Bangalter helmet build - FINAL p.20!

Ok well since no one else has posted it I will even though it looks like a double post for me.

Great time lapse Video on your build.
For those that have not seen it here it is.

Daft Punk: Thomas helmet in 4 months! - YouTube

Wow, and I thought I was going to be the one to post that this morning after I'd gotten some sleep! Glad you like it, that one took me forever to edit.

Had an AWESOME photoshoot this past week with my friend Dan Almasy as well as fellow RPF member Derek Lukaschus (DL4567) and his unbelievably perfect DeLorean. The results were (and I'm destroying any sense of humility here) just staggering.

I could go on - Dan took hundreds of awesome shots - but if you'd like to see some more (and in higher rez!) check out my Flickr here.

I've actually got another one of these on the books, and I've got a lot of improvements I want to make on that piece. Most notably will be testing out epoxy resins and lighter weight fiberglass cloth for better strength. There may also be a TRON variant in the works down the road as well.

For now though, we'll call it finished. Finally!

Those are some excellent photos. Mind-blowing stuff.

For your next shoot you should bring out both helmets and composite some shots with you as both Thomas and Guy.

Great job, Harrison! It's hard to believe that this all started with a couple ambiguous pieces of MDF slotted together.

Now go take a nap, you've earned it.

...or make another drunk tutorial. Either will do.

PS: Nice use of Madeon in that video. I've been hooked on their stuff lately.

Oh wow, I just checked out the video, that song is amazing! Also, very well edited video. :thumbsup

Just saw you featured on io9. Good to see that you're getting recognition for your awesome work.

I don't know if I would call that a perfect Delorian. Where the heck is the flux capacitor and all the time machine equipment?

Dang, Volpin. I've been following your Daft Punk helmet build since I found this site (back in May I think) and one word: Dayum! I would love to have one of your Thomas helmet just to chrome, throw a tinted visor in, and wear for the hell of it. Wouldn't even need the electronic bling to have fun with it (though, it would be awesome). Nice shoot with the DeLorean, too!

Hi Volpin !

I wanted to congratulate you for your wonderful work that inspires me a lot, I follow you a long time now and I am a huge fan!

Good luck and congratulations!

Again, Volpin, I just had to do you the service after reading the writeup on your blog of going back to the beginning of this thread and seeing where it all started. After reading this entire thread, your work on this is phenomenal, and I am in LOVE with GSTQ Fashions' work, she is truly incredible as well. The photoshoot with the DeLorean is just icing on the cake of a mind-blowing build!

Will you end up putting in the more complex 'side' LED's at the edges of the visor? I loved the look of the square LEDs and I really think it's a shame that after going to all the effort of wiring them they weren't able to be used. Was that an electronics problem or a space one? :)
