I would imagine it would accommodate this lighting, as I have left room for my own lighting array. Having said that, without having the lighting rig myself I can't say with absolute certainty.

Would this particular helmet be able to fit Tekparasite's LED setup? Was wondering how much space there would be left inside the helmet once the electronics have been installed.

how did you smooth/prepare your MDF ears either before or after attaching them so they were at the point they are now? if they are not MDF then ignore me i guess, but if thats the case what are they made out of?

Indeed, they are MDF. I smoothed them by sanding and lots of coats of primer. MDF absorbs the solvent in primer so it requires both extra coats of primer and extra dry time.

Just mix some hot water with some woodglue and brush it on MDF next time. This way you dont need a couple of extra coats

alright then, simply enough but thought i would check as i have some MDF 'ears' i'll be attaching and wasn't sure how to get same finish on them as the rest of my build

i'll have to do a test-run of that see how it turns out on a practise bit of MDF

Wow, casting is frustrating. I wish I had someone with me who had done this before - I may have rethought my process. I think the only thing that frustrates me is that I lost some of the very precise detail that was in the original, but I'm pretty sure I can fix it. I also might make a new mold in the future and continue casting. Anyway, pics:

And one of the problems - dimpling from the mold being uneven. Again, something I can fix with filler, and now that I know how to use the medium, one day I can make a better mold.

I already promised two helmets to a couple people, but once I vacuform I may have one or two helmets that will be available before Halloween. After Halloween I'll have plenty of time, but I have 22 feet of electroluminescent film to make a costume out of and that's going to eat up some time...!

not too familiar with the molding process so this might not be saying this right, once you had your silicon applied (as seen in the above pictures) did you put on a mother mold to support your silicon mold. i thought it was important to have the extra support from it.

regardless of that, looks like a glorious gooey orangey mess and a fine casting.

I did - getting the outer framework of plastipaste aligned was one of the challenges.
