I did this for a Custom Toy show in NYC which happened last Friday (25th). It started out as this (see pic below) which is a vinyl toy made by Kano.

If your not familiar with Toy Custom shows, the artist sends out his toy to other artists, then they customize it and send it back to be in a show.

And after a few kit parts and styrene and weathering here is the final piece

The base was made from a cigar box and styrene.

Re: Custom Toy

Way to go FB! Great take on the shape of the figure... the kit-bashed parts and paintjob really put it over the top! :thumbsup

Just curious:
When you do a custom toy show, is the piece returned to you afterwards? Or are they offered for sale during the show?

Re: Custom Toy

Thanks for the comments! It's the first kit bashed piece I've ever done and was very fun to make.

I'm still new to weathering and model making but I learned a lot of techniques on this one.

Re: Custom Toy

:thumbsup Cool! that is really great. When i first saw it I thought the ship was a design based on the characters. Then I realized it WAS the character. Really fantastic work turning it into something completely different. :)

Re: Custom Toy

Awesome job, bro! That's my favorite one out of the group of customs in the show! :)

Re: Custom Toy

I like how you took it in a completely different direction than most (maybe all) others at the show. Really stands out. Great work.

Re: Custom Toy

Here's my newest painting. It's for a show in Santa Cruz. The base is an All City Style subway train blank.
