Haha, yeah, I need a shop... Or an empty garage... or a storage unit for all the stuff I keep building... The Misses would probably appreciate the extra room.

All right, Here it is... on me, so the sleeves are a little tight:

Okay, now that it's done... A few notes:

*The garden stakes only kinda worked... I had to go back through and put armature wire in certain places and create extra support at certain joints... They kept wanting to droop to the floor...
* Again, with drooping, my use of pipe supports/clamps/ (whatever they're called), only sorta worked, I still needed to run a bolt or screw through the back pack setup and into each tentacle to keep them from twisting in their joints...
* This whole costume cost less than $55... That includes the trench coat which I picked up at the thrift store for $8, but doesn't include the foam, which I already had on hand...
* It's a pain in the a** to anchor tentacles to a backpack underneath a coat... That was a pain. I would attempt that part differentlt if I were to do this again... not sure how, but yeah.

I think those are the only notes I have at the moment... If anything else comes to mind, I'll share.
...But there it is. Doc Ock, on a budget, and done in about 5 weeks.
Feel free to comment, critique, ask questions...

Interesting approach and very much a Matrix/Steampunkish impression with the mask and trenchcoat ~ well done :thumbsup
How about using balljoints to make the arms move slightly left and right?

It is kinda matrix-y now that you say it. I was going for kinda a cyberpunk look.
The ball joint idea would be cool. I'd want to figure out a ratcheting system of sort to keep them locked in various positions.. otherwise I'm afraid they'd bounce around too much when walking.

Glad you dig it! Thanks for watching it come together.

How about a balljoint with a horizontal 'letterbox' opening (don't know the right english word for it) to limit the arm's movement? An inch or so left and right of the balljoint's center should give it enough space to swish left and right, and yet small enough to keep it in place.Just a thought

Oh I got you, like a vertical slat (or horizontal) that limits it's movement.... Like a letterbox opening? right?.That could be cool. I'm leaving room for improvements later. So maybe next time I decide to tinker with something I'll do that.

For now, since we realized it was rather cyberpunk... I decided it was missing a chest piece/armor. So I whipped one up tonight

Chest piece in the works:

Will paint tomorrow probably.... I know, I know.. It looks like the new power rangers. If only I had the foresight to start building a power rangers suit last year.

All painted... Decided to bring in some of the Doc Ock colors we know and love from the comics.. Greens and yellows.. May or may not add more lights.. Im on the fence at the moment.

I'm finally getting a handle on the airbrushing, I think it turned out solid.. I did a spray can black primer, then a spray can metallic silver, then airbrushed the greens and yellows

Ok. I know I said I was finished, but I decided to take the concept a little further. If you've followed any of my other builds you know I like to take a bit of creative license with them...
So I've decided this version is a military experimental weapon (yes, I'm retconning here haha), and this costume is the Doc Ock military prototype and the tentacles are controlled via a 50s-esque-technology helmet.. And of course I wanted it octopus-like.
So I decided to build and just finished tonight.

Let me know if you guys dig it or if it's silly and I shouldn't use it.

Personally I am a fan of the original Marvel characters (perhaps not practical/suitable for live action movies, but definitely good for comic cons),but that's how I personally would craft.
What does your sister think of it? I thought you made the suit for her?
