So I'm attempting to build Doctor Octopus tentacles within two months.. I'm doing a customized Doc Ock for my sister for Wondercon in two months. Just started this two days ago and I'm building as fast as I can. Finally someone will be something that complements my Spidey armor!
For the tentacles, I'm basing it loosely on the Raimi version:

I'm making the individual braces out of foam as well as the claws. I'll be putting lights in, but no mechanics. Also, I'm not doing nearly as many braces as there are on the Raimi version.
I picked up some 3/4" inner diameter pipe insulation foam and ordered some 1/4" wire conduit for the tube parts. I got garden posts, or stakes, the green ones, for the structure... They've got a piece of metal running through them, they don't bend cleanly, but with the foam over it it works. I'm mounting the whole thing to a rubber made lid in a backpack (pretty, no? effective, I hope so) It'll be covered by a coat so the mounting isn't important as long as it holds and is light weight.
Anywho, here's some progress picks so far.

And here's one with some pipe insulation on it:

As always, comments and ideas are welcome!

More updates soon,
