So... I loved Crouching Tiger and I was cautiously excited when it was announced that they were moving ahead with a sequel. The trailer for the new film just dropped and... holy hell, I don't know quite what to say about it.

It looks pretty enough, I guess, but they've, for some reason, chosen to overlay it with the most horrific cover of Bad Moon I've ever heard.

This is one of the biggest barrels of WTF I've encountered in a while. :(

That's what happens when you let a 20 something who doesn't know music older than them edit your stuff for you lol. It looks good but the music is way out of place as usual with modern movies half the time.

Re: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Sword of Destiny

Yikes. That music is off-putting. What were they thinking?
Sad to imagine "Tiger" without Ziyi Ziang, but -
Is that Donnie Yen?

John Fogerty needs to clear his throat.

Is Ang Lee directing this? I mean, he should direct this. You can't have the action without the drama and call it a sequel to CTHD.

I got 12 seconds into that trailer. I don't think I want to besmirch the memory of a great movie with this S. Darko level bad idea.

JOHN FOGARTY GONNA SUE SOMEBODY! :lol

I'm there love me some Michelle Yeoh!

So the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon sequel is pretty awful, huh?

I made it about fifteen minutes in before shutting it off and trying to cleanse my brain. Utter hatchet job. Which I should've known, but curiosity got the best of me.

To be fair I didn't find the first one all that good either. Making a sequel to an action movie nearly 20 years later just seems like a bad idea.

Sometimes you just have to know which bullet to dodge! ;)

So I'm going to agree with you that the first 15 minutes has some bad pacing and quick scene changes BUT as soon as that 15 minutes is over and it settles down to Yu and protecting the sword it is pretty good the rest of the way. I would give it another chance. :)

I gave it 35 minutes before I turned it off.

Michelle should have stayed away from this one, rehash of the first. :unsure

Really? I find the first one to be thought-provoking and moving. A benchmark example of intelligent, character driven action. But to each his own!

Well mind you I was in my early 20s then so my tastes have changed since then, i wasn't into old movies then either so I might like it this time.
