Tips: When reading the paper Go easy on the hardener because after about 5 minutes it starts to cure up And it does not saturate the paper like when it is fresh.  Still does the job just does not such a raise the paper

I will add more later thanks for looking
Tell me what you think .....and be honest!!!!!!!!

Looks like your off to a great start. Can't wait to see some bondo on that backpack and chest piece. Like I said, looks like your off to a good start, keep it up!

The fiberglass resin was about 60 bucks

The fiberglass mat was about 8$ for 8 square feet

The bondo is only about 20 dollars where I live at for a gallon. Most the stuff can be picked up at any auto parts store. I might not use bondo on the backpack because of the expansion foam I put on the inside for strength. I have a really sick sandable primer that just eat the paint up...

A question for people that use the foam mat...(foamies) I put some fiberglass resin on it at and it really does nothing???? I heard about something called plasti-dip???

The fiberglass resin really did nothing to the foam? It didn't harden?

plasti dip is your friend when it comes to foam. it makes it way easier to paint and a little stronger and not as flexible.

It just coated it it didn't soak in like I thought it would.... I even sanded half of the peace I resined nothing can still flex it just the same....someone else try I only did one side one coat so? ?????

With the foam garage floor type mats, it wont soak in. Mainly because the type of foam that the mats are made out of, which is a "Closed Cell Foam", as opposed the softer type of foam which is "Open Cell foam".

More questions: How much of the hardener are you adding to the resin? was it just one thin coat? just wondering because the resin really shouldn't flex much at all even with out the actual glass matting. I'll see if I can give you a solution with what materials you have. I have tons of mats and a huge can of resin. Ill play with tonight. The plasti dip is best but can be a little pricey. It's what the guys on the RPF use on their foam Ironman suits with fantastic results.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong here guys. :)

Edit:
Ok just made a blade out of foam and coated it with resin(will post pics on my build thread tomorrow)

The parts where the resin was thin, It was kinda sticky still but.. the pats that had a heavy coat were pretty solid. maybe try another coat with a tiny bit more hardener and that should stiffin' them up a bit more. Worth a shot. Gotta work a bit faster because extra the hardener makes it flash faster.

ahhh I gotcha. Bondo will definitely help make it hard. maybe still try that second coat of resin before the bondo couldn't hurt.
