Stupid question a freind came up with: Are there instructions that come with the 7-11 cup? It could be that we've all been over thinkign removing the gauntlet from the cup, since odds are, you'd want to remove it from the cup for washing.

Maybe it has a twist lock kind of thing, and can be removed for washing easier than we've been thinking about?

No instructions. Honestly, I don't think they thought that far ahead to see that people might want the gauntlet as a playtoy or prop - the edges are too sharp to make it uncomfortable for kids to put it on/pull off repeatedly.

The cup is held in the gauntlet with 4 pegs that I have found so far. I just took a cup apart a few minutes ago, it was a pita. I'm not sure what they were thinking for cleaning these things as there is no easy way to get it out of the gauntlet. See the attached pics for pegs.

I guess for the price we can't *****, but it seems they could have easily made the gauntlet removable with a twist action, and a channel for the cup nubs.

One washing, and the gauntlet will be toast!

More likely because somebody else may have already purchased the rights to make the toy prop.

well mine's pretty much comic con ready. I may be able to fashion a HUD but that is not necessary for the walkaround prop if it does not work out. anyway here are some pics. It is not perfect, but better than the slurpee cup at least.

That is slick. For the HUD, I suppose you could line a flat piece of clear acrylic with wire light. Or a thicker sheet of acrylic with the targeting arrays carved out so when a backlight hits it the carving will reflect stand out.

That looks great! I know its late in teh game for this, bu did you think of making the front handle detachable? I'd imagine driving, eating of such might be hard with the handle in your hand.

$4.99 already? I'm wondering if these might be good collector item investments that people will hunt for? Unless something comes out around Halloween, these could be very popular on ebay!

thanks for those things, I'd just take it off of my arm. The handle has wires integrated into it for the switch, so detaching it would be a pain anyway.

Hell, we are just creating our own carnage here, with dragoncon and Halloween right around the corner!

I was wondering how hard it would be to relocate the switch on the 7-11 cups to a handle. The handle shape reminds me of an aluminum curtain rod. That might be a good donor for a custom mod start.

Still $6.99 for the cups here, but I finally found the last two at the third of our three 7-Elevens! One is already de-cupped for my daughter for Halloween. The other one is going to sit on my workbench while I work out a better plan for it!

Hey just found out the shirt he wears is called a "long sleeve button waffle henley"

Looks like waffle Henleys are thermals for insulation. Maybe its just a long sleeve Henley style? Walmart and Target used to carry those, but odds are this time of year they only have short sleeved ones.
