I was wondering if anyone has an educated opinion on this seller's armor - as far as how accurate it is versus the price range for the total package offered.
Is this armor set a good deal? I am not a trooper expert in any way (but I know we have plenty here on the board) so I wanted to seek out some input before I invest in anything.
I know to steer clear of the Rubies Supreme Edition armor, and even some ebay listings - I just want to know if there is a good online source for completed armor sets.

Bad idea.

First of all, he is selling a set of FX armor, which is not accurate by any means. The helmet alone is huge! If you are looking for accuracy, look for a set of ANH armor. There are quite a few options out there.

Second, you can get a FX armor kit for around $500 or less nowadays, given the right channel. An ANH kit will likely run you about $800+

As for the accessories, you should be able to round up the body suit, gloves, boots, neck seal, and pauldron for around $150 to $350 depending on the quality you are looking for.

Plan on another $100 in materials for assembly. And make a 501st buddy with some armor building experience, to help you build it. It's not hard to do, but there are some tricks that can save you time and frustration.

My experience with costume junkie, long ago was not bad, he is very pricey and took a loooong time, and I didn't know any better. I have heard of other having bad experiences

PM me if you want more help or have any more questions.

Good luck,
Matt

Skip the FX.
Go to FISD and look for ATA.

I don't think you should be promoting known recast wares such as this.
Keep that crap over on the FISD where it belongs. A recaster's haven.

For someone interested in trooper armor that wants something better than FX, then AP is the way to go. AP is the best balance of price, quality, pedigree, and reliability. AND he is the only other non recaster of trooper pieces out there.

Can someone fill me in on what AP is? Not familiar with all the prop community jargon often times. Just looking for the best on the market and most reliable. Looking for an accurate ANH NON-symetrical helmet for my trooper armor.

AP is authentic props and should perfectly fit the bill for you based on your criteria.

I have been reading a ton on this topic all over the net - seems like every seller of trooper armor claims to have the 'best' most 'accurate' armor!
It's nerve racking! Trooper armor is pretty much readily available from a number of resources online - including Evilbay - yet for accuracy-hounds like myself (and quality junkies) I can't believe everything I read.
What is VT armor? There is a seller on Ebay right now selling a set of VT armor for $500 - looks pretty good, the helmet kit looks nice, but I really don't have 'an eye' yet for trooper armor, so I can't pick out the problems at first glance.
Show me a Hoverboard replica and I can tell you in less than a second if it's good or not - this stuff is a whole different story!
I just need some help here - I don't want to get screwed on quality, accuracy or price and I want the best I can get for my collection and for trooping.
Help me RPF...you're my only hope!

I just gave you the answer.

AP.

Everything else out there is recast crap (and mine is not being made available).

Ahhh, the joys of prop collecting!
I think I will just break into the Lucasfilm archives and steal me some armor. That way no one can argue it's authenticity.:lol

Here is one of the armor sets I am considering. Looks like a stormtrooper to me...but to my untrained eye, I may be missing some important things to look for. What do you guys think?

VT is recast armor.

"Authentic" props comes with facuet aerators for mic tips.
Authentic indeed!! :lol
Such a small part has nothing to do with the armor itself and is easy to swap out with something accurate from Keith, right here on the RPF. If that's your only gripe... then... wow.

You'd also need to replace the brow and neck trim on the AP kit, but it builds up perfectly. And since you already have to buy the undersuit, holster, gun and boots separately, it shouldn't be too much to replace those other parts at the same time anyway. The helmet is a little small depending on how you assemble it, but if trimmed and assembled more accurately than the AP guide tells, you can't go wrong. Strong and sturdy.
