Just noticed the pic from Jason, many thanks for that, its given me some solace to my red mixture.
Anyone still know if this original bird was repainted for ROTJ along with another being built up?
I cant say she will come out as accurate as i planned, but Jasons pic will get me a lot more done as its the prop ive been looking at till blue in the face.

Can someone guide me to where I can find the paint color "frime" and what the brand is? My hobby store has Pactra and Testors but neither brand seems to have a color called "grime". Can it be ordered online to mix the proper amount with white for the Blockade Runner color?

I see what your saying Toddski as i also thought that. Yet there are two variants on the red on the ANH model IMO. The runner you depict there has hull windows, and at one point had guns where the docking rings are. Unless the ANH was repainted after the movie, then went through another evolution for ROTJ, im guessing there is more than one prop, i could be wrong, but there are some very conflicting timeframes and pics.
JV grime is manufactured by Floquil if that helps.

I'm pretty sure that is what actually happened. The BR was repainted and modified after ANH for ROTJ. I think that it has since been restored to it's original ANH configuration. I've never seen any photos of two BR models together at the same time. I don't think they would go to the expense of creating a whole new model just to give is a slightly different paint job and a few extra geeblies...

There was couple of BRs built for ROTJ that had differnt detailing and paint - orange stripes and more greeblies. SOme here really big like ANH and some were smaller... 14 inches comes to mind but I wouldn't swear to that...

They did it for the Five foot falcon. They added the new landing gear boxes for ESB and ROTJ then restored it to it's ANH configuration for archiving.

Itll never be determined unless someone has that hard info, is she on show anywhere at the moment? What guise does the ship carry right now? Ah what the hell, its gettin painted as i see it lol. Looking at some of the pics they changed it several times if that is the case. Anyway, back to the project at hand, ill have an update this weekend

I just checked out cinefex #13. On page 54 there is a photo of Ken Ralston preparing a closeup on the Blockade Runner. The caption for the photo reads:
"Effects Supervisor Ken Ralston, In charge of the massive space battle sequence, prepares for a closeup on the Rebel Blockade Runner - In Mothballs since it's featured appearance in the first star wars film"
