Constantine: Lighter Project *UPDATE 04-09-2009 - Pics of brass parts are up*

Re: Constantine: Lighter Project *UPDATE 8-23-07*

Ok, small update:

just one more mold away from the coins with smooth recessed areas, will look really good.

Also started to build up the master of the lighter itself. As you can seen there's some areas and seams i still need to fill and edges to round off. Also working on a better extended zippo lever.

For now, enjoy this pic of the 90% finished lighter :D

Man, that is totally off the hook awesome. I'll definitely be in for one! :thumbsup

Re: Constantine: Lighter Project *UPDATE 8-23-07*

I figured thats what it would be. I want the full deal though so I can use it lol.
I need the lighter and the pendent (in the works) so I can do my film.

If you need some VFX let me know... I could help;)

And Marc, great job on that lighter!
I've done a "revised" version for that thing, I'll try to show it to you asap...:)

Re: Constantine: Lighter Project *UPDATE 8-23-07*

Alrighty then...... the moment you and myself have been waiting for.......the pieces for the lighter are done, and i am very happy with the result.

It has been a bear of a project with a lot of setbacks, headaches and delays: The elusive hinges, our move to the UK and back, birth of my daughter, production choices and challenges, nasty scratch on lid.......

In the coming 2 weeks i will be molding the pieces and build up a finished and painted resin model, followed by an interrestlist in the Junkyard for a run of resin copies. In the meantime i will sent the resin pieces to my foundry and start talking with them about making these puppies in brass. The foundry i found in the Netherlands has turned out to be an excellent choice. Although they are very expensive, they go to great, great lenghts to get the best possible result and they do their metal casting in vacuum, meaning as good as no imperfections in the casts or underneath the surface.

When the foundry is ready to rock and i know exactly how much it will cost to have the parts made and how long it will take me to finish a lighter, i will start a second interrestlist in the Junkyard for a run of brass ones.

I would like to thank you all for your input, encouragement (in this thread and through PM), patience and continued interrest in this elusive prop in the past 2 years. I would especially like the following people (i am so fortunate to have them as friends) without whom this project would never have seen the finishline:Sithsheriffbrody, JMtwo and Replicaprops for actively helping me with this project. Birdie, Juno, Rylo and Morganthirteen for encouragement and feedback through a phoneline :)

For now, enjoy the following pics (taken in crappy light, sorry too excited to wait till daylight :) ) a lot of you have been so patiently been waiting for for more than 2 years.

Marc
