Constantine: Lighter Project *UPDATE 04-09-2009 - Pics of brass parts are up*

Re: Constantine: Lighter Project *UPDATE 8-1-07*

Been looking through the thread again, but couldn't see if this had been asked before... so sorry if it has. But the price for the brass ones are just for the casing... or is it for a fully functional lighter?

the brass ones will be completly finished and functional. Cleaned and polished brass, brass hinges, goldplated coins and a real zippo insert with brass longer lever.

Re: Constantine: Lighter Project *UPDATE 8-1-07*

Just finished the lighter bodyparts. Currently priming it to be able to spot the final tiny defects, i will post pics either tonight or tomorrow.

the coins will be ready this weekend and an interrest list will be started shortly for resin kits.

Re: Constantine: Lighter Project *UPDATE 8-23-07*

Awesome! Pics would be great!!! Interest for the resin ones will be put up soon, but what about an interest thread for the brass one? Little longer?

Re: Constantine: Lighter Project *UPDATE 8-23-07*

I am doing a run of resin first to get some funds for the brass run, which will be very expensive to do. ALso i know resin and how much time is involved. I hvae worked brass before, but am unsure how much time would be involved with say making 30.

So resin first and as soon as i have the brass parts and know how much time it takes to make the brass ones an interrest thread for brass will be put up.

how sturdy are the resin lighters going to be? i have never really had a resin prop and wasn't sure.

The resin lighter would be good to put on a shelve and handling it with care (opening and closing the lighter would cause wear on the paint eventually.

the brass one should be able to withstand heavier handling.

Re: Constantine: Lighter Project *UPDATE 8-23-07*

small delay in showing the finished body and lid pieces. I discovered a small, yet visible scratch on one of the lid sides. too visible for my taste (you all know i am quite a perfectionist with this whole scratchbuild thing)

so i am making a new engraved side and will replace it. Once it is done, i will show it here, should have the coins ready by then as well, so it would be a 'master finished' post.

Re: Constantine: Lighter Project *UPDATE 8-23-07*

Have been working a lot lately and familylife is quite busy as well with my 1 and 4 year old. Body is done and am currently redoing the lid (because of the scratch. I did however finish the new coins, which look quite good.

......allmost there :)

I would like to buy one of the finished, brass lighters -- are these available yet, or still in progress?

Re: Constantine: Lighter Project *UPDATE 8-23-07*

Hey people, in case you thought Marc has been sitting on his hands with this one, guess again :)

the new lid is almost done, only need to fill and sand the top and fill the tiny slits where the engravings 'touch' the side panels.

If time allows i will most likely have the finished mastermodel to show off this week.

A run of resin ones will be done first, when i have enough funds for brass ones, those will be offered next.

The new foundry i currently use cast all their pieces vacuum, which should result in high quality castings, i have also noticed they take quality very serious over there, so these should come out excellent :D
