So I'm making My son a "(edit)not so shiny" Boba Fett suit for Halloween & some of you have already seen the Blaster I built for probably 5$ so here is My sons Armor cost of Maybe 20$ so far. Hope you guys like it.

Reason for it not being "shiny" anymore was upon his request. Guess you cant fool a 4 year old...

If you would like to see his "Blaster" I built for him go here...

Yes just painted foam. It's quite pliable can form to shape... plus 4 year old kids can destroy it and it doesnt matter.... :)

Great work! This kind of thing almost makes me want to have a kid so I can relive my childhood again by doing this sort of thing.

Great job! I've been thinking about doing Boba Fett for my five year old this year. He was Captain Rex with vac'ed armor last year. I see how you did the crotch armor, but how did you get the should armor to curve? And what kind of foam is that? Something from a craft store, or something else? Normal spray paint?

Thanks!

Heat gun to make it bend then rapid cool to hold form. You can get these rolled 1/2" foam camping mats in the camping section of Walmart for 6$ or just use normal foamies you would get from craft store. I was thinking this foam was to thick, but I really don't care because it looks great and My son is 4 he would be happy if it was card board.....

All kinds of awesome! I hope your kid knows how awesome a dad he has. :)

(What do you mean by "shinny"? I thought you might mean "shiny" but...)

Ok quick update... I was working on the knee pads as well just a step behind...

Kneepads002.jpg

Shaped then primed...
Kneepads003.jpg

Kneepads004.jpg

After sacrificing a few pens, I have knee darts!
Kneepads006.jpg

A few coats of yellow... Had to work it into the coarse foam...
Kneepads010.jpg

Kneepads013.jpg

This is the result of that...
Kneepads017.jpg

Now add the Knee darts...

Well there you go! Now all I have to do is figure out what I'm going to do about his Bucket and I'm going to start on his Jet pack tonight... Updates tomorrow! Peace!

Re: "4 year old" Shiny Boba Fett armor

Awesome awesome AWESOME stuff! How'd you get the foam to retain it's shape? Did you stick some wire in there or something?

Heat gun then rapid cool after you shape the heated foam with your hands... "Not to forget to wear gloves"

Thanks everyone!

Re: "4 year old" Shiny Boba Fett armor

What are you going to do for a helmet? I was thinking about my old Don Post that I have. It'll be big, but not as big as my Mystery Helmet. He has a cheapo Fett costume, bought on clearance after halloween. But that helmet wouldn't quite live up to the rest of the costume I'll make.
