Re: Completed 11th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

Kursosawa i broke my co screwdriver the button to activate the emitter when non extended does not work will that effect the conversion ?

This does not affect the conversion in the least. As long as one of the switches and the sound board is still functional, I can still make it work.

on another note, Incoming update! this time, the handle.

Re: Completed 11th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

Wow!!!! I could not be more thrilled! Mine arrived in the post today and it is a beauty! Kursosawa has perfected this mod. I was lucky enough to get the marbled core in mine. The Wand Company's remote is pretty cool, but the work and craftsmanship put into this mod elevates it just...beyond. A metal 11th Doctor's sonic that flicks accurately, looks accurate, and makes the effects and noises we love... And know I have one. This has been a "grail" item of mine for years. If you are on the fence, please have your concerns alleviated. Kursosawa is a pleasure to work with; extremely communicative and helpful. I absolutely recommend this to anyone thinking about going this route. Gene, thank you again!

Re: Completed 11th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

I got mine in as well, great piece of work! As others have said, it'll take a good number of flicks to wear it in to the proper friction, but I'm very pleased with the conversion! I also got mine with the marbled core/emitter. I just need to find an allen wrench small enough to switch out emitter heads...

Re: Completed 11th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

I had zero issues with the flicking. It arrived perfectly.

So it slides out without a lot of force, then? Mine flicks nicely, but I feel like it requires a bit more force than I want to be exerting. I need a good downward flick to get it open, enough force that sometimes the head goes crooked (although that may be that the emitter screw is a bit loose and needs tightening, or the emitter needs to be re-aligned for a better fit), and I haven't managed to pull off the classic 'Smith' flick, with upward momentum being enough force to extend all the way. I don't play with it a whole lot but I imagine that eventually, it'll have the right friction.

Re: Completed 11th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

I had to 'play' with mine for a little while in order to pull off the perfect opening motion. As with most machined items, the parts need to break in. Flick it, move it by hand, do whatever, but keep it moving. You should feel it getting smoother as you work it.

Re: Completed 11th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

Some of the sonics do end up being tighter than others. Part of the reason being the core itself. The clear resin I use can be somewhat temperamental in regards to expansion. I have noticed differences in the final casts up to .25 mm in the OD of The shafts. This is especially true with the marbled cores. But in the end, all The sonics need is a bit of wearing in to get a smooth flick.

Re: Completed 11th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

Re: Completed 11th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

Hi. I too had problems with mine sticking. I lightly filed some of the excess metal off the inside of the silver sliding part with a needle file and it works a charm now. Mine also had missaligned claws which I easily fixed and a cracked emitter core (which ill have to live with I guess). Very pleased overall, but my advise is be prepared to have a tinker when it arrives! My video review is here 11th Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver - Full Metal Prop Replica - YouTube

Re: Completed 11th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

Bump for the Last few hours for the discounted price

Re: Completed 11th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

Do you currently have any pre-completed ones available?

Re: Completed 11th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts

4 things:
1) Do the claws close onto the emitter completely?
2) Does it still work as a remote?
3) Are the emitters still available?
4) And, finally, can we still get the screen accurate screw?

Re: Completed 11th Doctor Sonic remote conversions + extra parts
