Hey all, I have been browsing this site for a while and have finally decided to create an account.

here are pics of my Master Chief armor made using the Pepakura method, all files were courtesy of the 405th and their hard working members.

let me know if you have any questions on how I did anything or if you have any suggestions as this suit is always evolving.

Enjoy!

Welcome to the RPF! Your costume looks really good, you did a great job.

The only suggestion I would make would be to increase the assault rifles length. It's a little short (I have the same one but never got around to finishing it).

Thanks for the great words! I can post some of the progress pics as soon as I have some time.

Dredgen: Thanks for the suggestion on the riffle, the one I got was the el cheapo from Toys R Us and I added a better flash light to it, and a longer barrel. I was in the process of adding an ammo counter but you know costume deadlines... I also made a quick 30 min plasma grenade, and I have the laser tag plasma riffle and plasma pistol guns I carried around.

Great armor!
I dig the mods for Zombie Spartan!

That is a great set of photos of a Spartan at work. It is fun to see the fantastic vs. the ordinary!!

I modded a number of the BuzzBee rifles back in the day and I still have the file I use to make a nice ammo counter sticker that can be backlit with a EL blue panel for the full HUD look. If you haven't cut the hole yet I could send you the info.

Nice pictures indeed

.... omg you destroyed a helmet to make a zombie version!

Nah, I had a size test helmet that I never finished with resin or bondo. I just took the scraps from the main helmets visor and added some accents.

Psicorp7 I would love the file/info for the ammo counter! that would be awesome!

Here is the image. It is nothing special, just a cleaned up HUD.

Here is the trick to making it look good. Go to WalMart or Target and get one of the Electroluminesent Night Lights in blue. Crack that baby open and remove the EL panel. You will also need to get a EL inverter from someplace like CoolLights. Get a 3 volt if you are running it off the batteries included or a 9 volt if you are adding another battery.

Trim out the shell of the rifle to create an opening about the size and shape of the game HUD. Print the HUD out on a clear adhesive label (also at WalMart). Once the ink is dry take an unprinted label and laminate it over your printed one (to protect the ink). Now all you need to do is stick the HUD label on the EL panel and trim it to fit behind the opening in the rifle shell. Remember to seal the edges of the EL panel to avoid a minor shock!

The rest is simple wiring of the EL panel to the inverter and batteries.

Here are a few pictures of mine.

The HUD is in black because the EL panel shows through and gives you a light and dark blue color. Really cool and very cheap.

Enjoy!

Really great work and even more so for being done with pepakura!

My only suggestion would be to use a thicker material for the undersuit, maybe a slick skin wetsuit or just plastidip your current undersuit and add plenty of textures to it, I think it would really add a great detail to your Master Chief there!

I was in the process of sewing an under suit for the texture but between repairs, touch ups, and battery replacements I didnt have time to get it done before the last show. and as it stands now I have to replace the helmet fan, and re fiberglass the butt plate :lol

For the next show I am in the process of making a Spawn costume so I probably wont have the undersuit done by then either... Im sure I will be working on this halo costume for years to come.
