Commissioned Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) Sonic Screwdriver
Several months ago, I received a request to make a Tom Baker (4th Doctor) sonic screwdriver, and I gladly accepted the commission. Unfortunately, this was the summer that my lathe decided to act up, which set my schedule back time and time again, and has prevented me from completing the sonic screwdriver when I wanted to. I had already made a Tom Baker sonic screwdriver for myself, but it was my first one, and I made a few mistakes that I have corrected on this sonic screwdriver.
First day on the project, I was machining the retractable sleeve part of the screwdriver, and everything went wrong. The metal got too hot, the chuck jaws lost their grip somehow, and then they completely marred the piece.

Bottom half of the sonic with little top piece. Top piece next to the top piece from my sonic. Top piece powdercoated in a matte black. I'm very pleased with how the powdercoating turned out, considering my powdercoater was acting up.

Cut the lower half of the body down to the proper size and finished boring it out.

Machined the pommel and cut some threads on it so that it screws into the body. On my sonic screwdriver, the pommel is held on via a terrible pressure fit involving a lot of electrical tape. I also bored out the pommel so there is more room for the soundboard and batteries.

Threaded rod in place.

This is the magnet that will go on the bullet part of the emitter (only name I can think of for the red ring on top)
