Come to wonderfest

Rob,

Thanks for posting that picture of Richard. It was your photo that prompted me to introduce the idea of bringing Richard to the 2011 show to the Wonderfest staff. Fortunately they agreed that he was worth pursuing and they were successful in landing him. So.......truth be told, Rob McFarlane was the real instigator behind the idea of bringing Richard to the Fest. A number of other people played a part in this including myself, but the idea would not have been entertained if it wasn't for this pic. This just goes to show you how guests get lined up sometimes. A succession of happy accidents.

Back for the 2008 show we wanted Linda Harrison, plus Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood. We had trouble locking down agents for them and had pretty much given up. A friend of mine in England finally came through at the last minute with Linda's agent info, and guess what? The same agent represented Keir & Gary. Talk about winning the lotto! And it was a great show too.

Thanks again for the assist this year Rob!

that was a great line up in 2008, yeah!

So anyone else coming that has some studio scale Star Wars or BSG stuff to show off? I'd be thrilled to have you in the display we're putting together!

Yeah, pretty much all you have to do is mention "Kentucky bourbon" and Richard's there.

Which reminds me, is there a shooting range near Churchill Downs?

:)

Oh I'm sure there's a shooting range nearby. I'll check into it for you. I've already told the Wonderfest staff to have some good Kentucky bourbon ready for Richard.

I'm going, my Niesen Tie Interceptor is cleaned up and ready for assembly/paint , but I don't know if I'll have it ready to go. I'm building a Fine Molds 1/72 version now to get my colors right and get a feel for the ship before I put the big guy together. It'd be really cool to have a model in the contest and show with those special guests around, but then again, I still consider myself a novice compared to the work you guys, maybe I can help make yours look hotter by being the ugly girl companion :)

i'm there! i'm kinda of a runner/helper/gopher for the wonderfest crew, but would be happy to know i can help your display in any way. name it. hit me up jason, there's a place i want to show you (in louisville)...maybe a little road trip friday morning before things get hectic.

Good to know, roomie.
:lol

So any other shy but talented modelers out there that want to bring a studio scale Star Wars or BSG project to display in the exhibit? FInished or even in-progress, if you're using kit parts especially! Would love to see something half-done sitting next to the same subject all painted and what-not, to show the progression.

J, I could bring some patterns and castings from my X-Wing build, but I doubt I'll have a finished model ready by then.

You're using those rear engine castings on your Blue Leader, tho...

I'm making progress on a RTF build:

Is the exhibit separate from the contest?
