the way i see it is this. you create something. Might as well just make one, cause you should know that once you share the plans, or files, or completed product, someone out there will take that design and run with it. Its the way the world works. not saying I would but there are people out there like that. And once its out there, its out there for the taking. I know people want an HONOR system to be in effect, but this is the real world, not a bubble Utopia where everything happens the right way.
 
but i do sympathize for yall that get used like that by someone copying your work. I know it takes alot of time, effort, and tweaking to get the items as correct as possible from screen shots, comics, or movie used costumes, etc. I am not backing the sneaky ways of some people. I personally always purchase items of such for my own personal use only and admiration . and give props for the skills and creativity those artists have out there , making these items.
 
Of course there will always be the ones that take the work of others for their own benefit but that doesn't mean that there's no need to do something about it, even if it's hopeless. The chance of anyone else doing the same thing is much smaller when he notices that there's a community behind those designers and prop builders that is not willing to support a corrupted system. I mean people like that are the reason that less and less stuff will be shared and published.

1. Edit this tif file I have so my dye sub pattern will fit me when printed OR

2. Tell me how to do it myself

I live with a person with a very creative mind, it does concern them, when they do share idea's and projects people will use and steal the ideas. This is life, the internet has created all angles of stealing.
Talking about it here and in other mediums is the first step of making sure it doesn't become a huge problem.
It can happen to any of us.
And it is sad to hear.
 
I'm a fairly new member here and this is just my 2 cents:

As far as copyrighted work and lawsuits for making cosplay costumes and other props and doo dads fro personal use Lucasfilm had this to say back in July of 2008:

"We do not intend to...discourage our fans from expressing their imagination, creativity and passion for Star Wars through the costumes and props they make for their personal use," Roffman said. "Rather, we see the Court's decision as reaffirming that those who seek to illegally profit from Star Wars will be brought to task, wherever they may be."

I would imagine that Marvel, DC so on and so forth have similiar opinions. If they didn't they'd be serving lawsuits at every con and fest. As long as you're not profiting from it, they probably don't care.

As far as those stealing designs and works and claiming them as their own, I would suggest taking a course of action similar to those who sniff out and expose military fakers. The guys and gals on the stolen valor websites are RUTHLESS when it comes to exposing frauds. They, and those in that community, send emails, make comments on Facebook pages, send tweets, make phone calls and put the frauds in their place. I would suggest those that are having their work stolen do the same, and that we as a community help them in that endeavor.

Cant belive that a hole is doing it again.... a fine example of a bad person...i wouldnt have the conciouse to do it...
 
Has anyone investigated trying to get ColorSuits delisted from Google?

I'm sure there must be a way to report copyright infringement. And if they're not on Google, they will have a MUCH harder time getting customers. It's not an ideal solution, but it's an idea at least.

And yeah, that could really put a blow to those money-hungry scumbags. Their revenue will decrease greatly if it loses Google's support.
 
Visited his site, made me wanna puke. I'm truly sorry for what happened to you O. I sent him a nasty e-mail, I'm pretty sure it won't help but it made me feel better lol
