I'm looking for a exact match for the Matser Replicas TOS phaser body, i'm not sure what paint to use, I have a couple mr tos bodys but they have some scratches so I wanna fix em up, any help would be GREAT, also, looking for something to polish the metal emiter and fins, but I dont want anything that will tarnish them, ya know. thanks

Krylon Shadow Grey #1604 is the closest thing I could recommend. That color is the closest match found for the Hero prop too.

Cool, thanks very much, i'll test it out and see how it looks!

You wont be able to touch up just the scratches.
You will have to basicly paint the whole thing.

yea, i know, i'll have to take em apart, but at least they'll look better than they do now, any info on how to remove the scratches???

Any chance you could post a pic or two? It sounds like what you're going to have to do is strip them down and repaint from the ground up like Replicator suggests. Alternatively, if the scratches aren't too bad, you might try sanding the scratched areas slightly with some very fine grade sandpapers and then repaint the whole thing once it's smoothed out. But to get an even finish it would be better to strip it completely first.

I've been tempted to try and polish up the emitter on my MR Phaser and haven't dared to do it yet. Again it seems to me that it would take very fine grade sandpaper (400-800 and up) to get satisfactory results. Then top it off with some turtle wax chrome polish or something similar to buff it out. If the emitter's aluminum it shouldn't tarnish like silver does. When aluminum oxidizes, IIRC, the finish kind of dulls a bit is all.

Hope that helps,

Dave

Re: Looking For A Color Match For A MR TOS Phaser Body, Now with Pics, Inside of a MR

Wonder if I should go with a satin clear coat, or a flat clear coat?

Here it is, the new paint job, I used a Krylon Pearl blue underneath and Krylon smoke grey, and then finished it with a satin clear coat, I also used brasso on the chrome/alluminum, it came out very very nice, but you cant really tell in the pics. Hope ya like, i'm gonna keep the one painted and one of them i'm just gonna keep with the scratches but polish and clean it up.
