Star Trek TOS Phaser Build

No need to be sorry.

Tell me why Jon Paul & two of his associates was brought in to verify the first N.Nichols phaser that was put up for auction, yet the auction house refused to let Greg Jein examine it? Remember Greg is/was the utmost expert on the screen used props as he owned the majority of them...

Just doesn't make sense.

It makes perfect sense!

...if they forged the Nichols phasers (and the "hero" that, unbelievably, sold for more than Jein's real one), took advantage of her ill health to get her to endorse them, and then started an auction company stocked with fakes to sell at a premium.

The base of the phaser came from an R2Builder back when that club was just starting to form.
Did R2Builder make the P2 body or did R2Builder sell you a painted P2 body ("base") from a "Masterpiece Models" kit?

I ask because the inside top of the rear fin area looks like the color of the P2 body of the Masterpiece Models kit. As do the grip halves for the P2.

I look forward to your build. (May I suggest you post it on a new separate "thread" to avoid being an "Aftermath 2.0" ;) )

I thought the Masterpiece Models kit was a good kit. The owner of the company told me, when I ordered his last two kits, that he got nothing but complaints about the metal parts.

President Lincoln said it best - "...you can't please all of the people all of the time."

This is a project that I've been sitting on for quite a long time. In fact, the nozzle is one of the fist purchases I made on the rpf way back when the rpf was relatively new. I was hoping that more parts would become available, but as far as I can tell, it never happened.
The base of the phaser came from an R2Builder back when that club was just starting to form. The control knob came from a local surplus store. I came across that one a few years ago and I'm still surprised that it's correct. I took a chance purchasing it because I wasn't sure of the exact dimensions.
The other knob is a HMS casting. I'll use it to machine a nice knob part that goes on top of the real dial. I believe the grill piece came from a rpf member. The remaining parts are from a plastic kit that used to be sold on eBay way back when. The pushbutton switch came from All Electronics which is now defunct. I think lighting this one up shouldn't be a problem.

The block of aluminum will eventually become the "grill" for the back of the phaser. I'll be working on that part this month.
Looks like an original Bourne 10 turn dial, nice :D
Good luck with this, keep posting updates!
