Cobra V Bio - 04/07/2012 More Pictures Added

I have to say this is looking great and I can't wait to see bio and mask as one, though I'm not feeling the tubes running over the crown of the bio. It might just be the angle but they look to me like a bulbous addition to a sleek design. Your very first drawing at the start of the post appears to have them with a much lower profile and similar in size to the snout tubes. Just my thoughts but it might look good if they blend in as they move backwards over towards the rear of the crown.

Duly noted my friend and no worries. I actually have to smaller tubing lying around that is the same size of the snout that I found the other day. In saying that, by removing the old tubing and adding the new, it will mean that all the tubing on the bio will match and 'corrispond' with the design as the it entail the same size tubing on laser shroud area.

So will look into this and see what I can do. Thanks for the feedback bud.

Whats everyone elses opinion on the size of the tubing on the forehead? Does in need to stay the same or be smaller (the same size as the snout tube)?

Update time

I looked into using the small tubing but it didn't look great to me and I didn't like it so I decided to leave it as the big hose. I have now got this to about 98 - 99% complete. I have detailed the forehead area and started to added in the battle damage in places. I have also textured areas of the sculpt to create tone. I also added my own little twist to the front fangs to make them stand out from the rest.

Let me know what you guys think, thanks for looking and commenting guys

Ok - honest feedback wanted so here it comes. This was how I learned to paint and draw - by people telling me what I missed, could have changed etc

-the hoses I think are a bit overused. They should either have a function or at least look like they do. The one over the laser shroud, two onthe mouth and the ones on the crown look like they are there just for the heck of it, but ask yourself - what function would they have?

-the spikey tooth things along the jaw look a bit large. They also cause the jaw too look undefined and larger than it should be. I like the concept - but maybe make them smaller, not as thick?

-the eyes look a bit small...and not deep enough? They seem to get lost in the Bio when they should be noticeable

-I DO like the detailing on the front of the mouth in the shape of V's. I also like the detailing between the eyes.

I like what you have going on. As far as suggestions go.. Maybe incorporate the scribing that you have on the front fangs somewhere on the ridge of the crown and smooth out the scales a little bit more.

Here's a pic to better explain.

Thanks for the feedback guys, it was well needed.

@ Quakevirus - I was thinking of adding the script from the teeth and adding it to the ridge, but wasn't sure if it would look to much so then I though maybe yautja script??? and the scales on the to top needed to smoothed over - just not got that far yet. Feedback well noted dude....

@ PredtrHuntr - Recently, I have been questioning the use and point of the hose on the crown as I started to think that it STANDS out from the rest and may take to much away from the rest of the crown or the bio iteself. Also its a different size from the hose used on the around the snout area. But my question would be, what do I add into its place? Just blend the scales into the centre?

The eyes look alot bigger than the picture gives credit, not sure I could make them bigger, the bio I used as an armature wouldn't allow it. The clay around that area is about a 1mm thick. Since this update, I have removed the hose around the shroud and will be replacing it with something more suited to the bio. Your feedback is duly noted, will see what I can do.

Thanks again for your feedback guys, very much appreciated and helpful

i think you did the right move with ditching the loom on the forehead......it's coming along very nice!!! looking forward to see it painted!!!

Did some thinking on this and after a discusion in chat last night with PredtrHuntr he got me thinking of new ideas for the crown. I then thought of using the crown design from the Ancient Bio and then adapting it look like the base area of my gauntlets, see below for idea

Both the gauntlet and the bio share the same features (i.e. the centre divider and the sides) which means that the to can now be linked together and the bio can now work with the overall design of my Pred (y)

Also, if you look closely at the gauntlet (this ones for you Quake ;)) along the edges/ridges you can see Yautja script which could also be used????

For the layered parts of the crown, used in the Ancient bio, I was think of also reflecting the gauntlets layered effect which will look a lil like this

What do you guys think?

Looks waaay better Jason! And I like the idea of using the same style script that you use on the gauntlets, I would help further tie in the bio with the Armor. Just try and keep the script to a minimum so that it just accents the design not over powers it. maybe 4-5 charactars per side? Kinda like how the Elder Bio has them on the just the brows, but just shifted back to the outer crown ridge you have.

Can't wait for the next update! :D

Edit: I attached a pic better Illustrating what I'm talking about.

Thanks Jon, will defiantly come in handy and I think I will incorporate this into the design but will get the crown done first and see where to go from there.

Update time!!!

Just a few is pics. The first set is once clay was re-added and flatten on the crown with the design roughed out.

The designs seem to match and fit in place perfectly. I wanted to take the 3D layered crown effect from the Ancient Bio

Here's a peek with clay starting to be added.....
