This is the purchase list for the Kylo Ren Light saber based on a fan sculpt. The model was created by Gustavo who has put his blood sweat and tears into this model.

The final pricing for the blank saber (full details but no electronics).

Saber: $450

All parts are CNC machined with the exception of 3 pieces. The exposed core at the top, the exposed core at the bottom and the end cap. These 3 parts will be pressure cast in a strong and impact resistant resin.

If you want the 3 parts Resin, you have to pay the $450.

If you want the 3 resin parts in Aluminium instead...

The first option is if you would like to have a machined endcap for an additional $50.
Second is the lower exposed core for $105
Third is the upper exposed core for $80.
Fourth option is all of the above: $235 additional.

The parts that are not included but the STL files are available for you to print your own are the 3 blade plugs, the chassis and the kill key (for those who will use one).

The entire structure and every part that you will touch regularly is CNC aluminium, and a few detail parts are resin. Everything that gives the saber it's structural integrity to allow for a weighty hilt you can smash against other sabers is made from aluminium and will hold up to heavy dueling.

The run is already in progress and the prototype is in production. Expected completion by the machinist is 3 weeks from now.

Here are some of the prototypes parts that are done now:

Shipping is separate to this cost and will need to be better defined before final payments are due.

Hilts going to anywhere in the world except Europe will ship from Canada.

Hilts that will deliver to Europe will ship from Germany.

Pricing for European buyers will look like this:
Germany: 6Euro tracked, insured
Europe: 16Euro tracked, insured

When you sign up on this list please be ready to pay 100% of your cost. The machinist has already started producing the parts and the run should be shipping in 2 weeks.

Again... do NOT sign up unless you are ready to pay in full!

After you sign up you will be contacted via email within 48 hours for the payment. If you have signed up and not heard from me within the 48 hours time, please send me an PM.

Out of my budget, but I'm very much looking forward to seeing this. Glad someone is getting this done the right way!

Re: Kylo Ren CNC aluminium ultra accurate Saber

I really want to get in on this run, but $550 euro ($600 USD) is a bit more than I can afford.

Re: Kylo Ren CNC aluminium ultra accurate Saber

Yeah this is a great saber build, I was really hoping to get in on this run, but it's way to much me right now. If the price dropped in half I could make it happen, so I'll be watching to see if things go down much.

Just out of curiosity have you looked into how Korbanth was able to produce his metal Kylo Ren saber and sell it for $280 and if that is an option for a way to bring the cost down?

Great job though on throwing this all together.

Definitely interested, but would really need the price to come down. $600 USD is pretty steep. Keep me updated if there is a change in pricing.

Re: Kylo Ren CNC aluminium ultra accurate Saber

I also might be interested if the price changes :)

Re: Kylo Ren CNC aluminium ultra accurate Saber

Interested, but I was wondering if there will be any way to see some of the machinists work before the run commences? (I get that you can't show a finished saber hilt, but maybe something else?)

Re: Kylo Ren CNC aluminium ultra accurate Saber

This is very very tempting... I'll just have to crunch some numbers first. Post holidays is a rough time [emoji22]

Great job though on throwing this all together.

Korbanth used cast aluminum, which was a cheaper way to p,reduce them, but it means the aluminum and work involved it of a different quality and accuracy. The korbanth sabers biggest differences are the lack of the cutaway section on the emitter section and the lower detail section. There's were omitted, and also they lower the cost because these details are very costly to reproduce.

The machinist has made 2 things for me personally. One CNC was my EP7 helmet master, the other is a sla print and finish of my f11d I will use to produce resin copies. I have both of these projects on my Facebook and on the FISD. I don't want to link the places here in case it's against the rules. I'll post some photos of the products on Monday when I am back at the computer. But they are a full industrial CNC shop with some major machines and serious business. My business with the is very minor, even if I'm doing 100 sabers at the quoted price, it's peanuts for them. So it's not just a backyard guy with a 6 axis machine. I do fully understand wanting to know the quality of the machinist. Rest assured I would not invest your hard earned money and my own into something I did not have 100% faith in.

this shop has also been used by my partner Roy gilsing (who I'm sure you know) to make some of his industrial designs for his wannawanga shop and as well as his design firm. These guys are the real deal.

also for those not sure about the price.

the price wIll be toning down as we refine the design over the next day or so. However, keep in mind that for a CNC machined hilt of this detail even 550 is a good price. The amount of work and time that goes into machining each hilt is very considerable and these machines are running constantly, so time is at a premium. It is normal for a custom hilt like this to go in the range of 800-1000, so I'm getting a damn good price for a quality hilt.

also, keep in mind we are sacrificing no detail in this hilt, which is part of the high cost. If you have been following the work of guabe; you know the level detail that is in his v5 hilt which is the model for this project.

last thing, I made a mistake in the original post to the size of the blades and will update it. however, this is a good thing.

the main blade is 1in and the quillion are 3/4

Can I just get a set of blade plugs from you? A run of these would be pretty popular I would've thought (I'd want ones that fit the FX saber)

Thanks, I as just checking to see if it would be a "blind" order or not. All machinists are not created equal! : )

It's very very expensive.
I have to echo dday's sentiments. Proper CNC machining IS costly, upwards of $90 an hour sometimes, unless you have your own machine shop and can do things on "off-hours". Just programming all the setups for each of those pieces will take a great many hours. Back when I did my all-metal Vera I got quotes of $7K+ for just the machine work. $600 for this in machined aluminum, not done in a low-wage sweatshop, sounds pretty reasonable.

I'm not sure if these will fit the ffx saber or not. When the time comes it should be possible to get a set of them.

Everyone lost their poo over this man's amazing work. Then when it came time to put their money where their mouth was they chickened out! I'll be the first man amongst us to put my name down.

Put me down for 1 please.
