CLONE WARS weekly discussion thread

I didn't think the overall arc was filler, just the first episode that was all setup for the story and doesn't stand on its own very well. I like the Ashoka character development overall.

This week's was great!!

This week’s episode was great.

I really stopped thinking of Clone Wars as episodic. In the later seasons, I really thought of them as 90 minute movies shown in four parts.

Anakin and Obi-Wan really should have had that battlefield conversation out of earshot of the troops. Anakin is undermining troop confidence in Obi-Wan's command. (But it flows with Anakin's descent, so it's thematically appropriate.)

"And he was a good friend." Was he, though? ;)

I'm torn on whether any Snips/Fly Guy callbacks would've been appropriate in the Ashoka/Anakin dialogue. Nostalgic affection? Or cringe-worthy?

Also: (paraphrased obviously) "they disappeared down this miles-long tunnel that branches off in a million places and could provide any number of escape routes and obviously would require tons of time and people to search."
(They begin strolling down the tunnel realllly slowly)

I had thought about that too. I don’t think it was a matter of being cringe worthy but just not appropriate for the moment. To me, it seemed like Ahsoka was determined to move forward in both her objectives and her development. In a lot of ways, it seems she wants to focus on what she can become rather than what she was or What might have been. Just my personal take.

Great episode. And man was I confused by the opening sound track. I thought the Disney Channel messed up, but then the opening dialogue started as normal.

The highlights for me were definitely the OG style intro, Anakin walking out and facing down the whole Separatist Army, and the landing on Mandalore. But I won't lie, hearing Palpatine's been kidnapped and knowing that Anakin will soon turn on everyone and join the Dark Side... it gave me shivers. I've seen everybody talking about the new intro, Anakin walking out with a laser sword and facing down the whole Separatist Army, and Grievous' badass new look, BUT WHAT ABOUT YOUNG KANAN HERE?!?!?

Cringy and inappropriate, IMO. The S3 finale seemed to solidify, for me at least, that Anakin and Ahsoka had finally approached a more mature, traditional, and professional Master/Padawan dynamic and that they were past the concept of cutesy nicknames.

I have some friends that are waiting so they can binge all 4 episodes. Wish I could, but they're just too good to wait.
