CLONE WARS weekly discussion thread

Sit it out? He tried to kill Palpatine. I would call that a pretty active role.

Yeah, except he made the choice to go into exile (how does that even make sense? He's HIDING, not in exile) after failing to kill Palpatine. So when the first direct assault didn't work, Yoda decides to just kinda hide in the swamp for 20 years or so waiting for someone stronger to handle it. He could have whooped Vader any time, but didn't. He was a massively influential and visible member of the jedi - he could have tried to help put the Rebellion together. He could have..anything. Our hero, ladies and gentlemen.

Anyhoo...really liked the episode a lot more than I thought I would. I was expecting some god-awful cutesy, Home Alone garbage and got more of Red Dawn. I was thinking at the begining "why doesn't the Jedi who's proven multiple times that she can take out an army slaughter these thugs?", but what the hell, the rest of the episode moved along fast enough to knock that thought to the side. Bring on the conculsion!

He who fights and runs away will live to fight another day. That's what he was doing. He believes that he and Obi Wan are the only two Jedi left and all the knowledge of the Jedi is with them. He's more valuable alive than potentially running off on a foolish attack that will probably fail. He could kill Vader, Lucas has said Obi Wan could have easily beaten Vader, but he would then be facing a bunch of Stormtroopers. They're good, but they can't take on an army.

As MJF predicted and I feared, it was the Ewoks vs stormtroopers all over again. And why would OWK tell Grevous the ship was about to blow when it's obvious he would just get off? Silly episode.

i scoffed at that too but perhaps it is the "Jedi way" to give fair warning so as not to be a ruthless cold blooded killer? :lol

It wasn't that bad. I would give Jedi Padawans more fighting credibility than the Ewoks. I took Obi Wan's message to be a delaying tactic or taunt.

I liked it! Some nice cinematography in the space (anyone else notice the homage to the RotJ shot of the Y-wing crashing into a destroyer - nice). Not sure I really felt that the ship was overrun, but budgets for crowds you know...
The younglings rescue was pretty fun too. Didn't get the ewok/stormie vibe as they never went toe-to-toe with Hondos gang.

the space battle scenes are every bit as good as the feature films anymore... loved the interior "death star" walls.... the animation is really getting better and better... I enjoy it for what it is and try not to get too critical. I just pour up a big ass bowl of Cocoa Puffs and treat my inner child to some Saturday morning cartoon Star Wars and have fun with it! :$

Yeah I noticed that too, very cool. I like how they put Z-95s (X-Wing predecessor from books/games) in there too.

I don't think that ship itself was getting over run, it was going to be though. It started with three Republic destroyers and at the end only one was there. So the other two were either destroyed or took off (which doesn't seem likely). There were something like five or six Separatist ships I think.

A decent enough episode. I like the Hondo character, but I'm not quite sure why OWK let him go when he had attacked the Jedi ship and kidnapped Ahsoka, etc. Probably best not to think too much about it.

Nice seeing Slave 1 or a nice facsimile thereof.

i thought ahsoka was going to meet her maker in this episode... :O

pretty sure it is Slave 1 as last season they had young Boba with the bounty hunter group and they had control of his ship... perhaps the piratesmay have taken it from them. For some reason I am not recalling how the story arc went with Boba and what became of him... will have to go back and watch but it was cool to see they still had his ship... which to me in this episode was a forshadowing of Boba's return to the story arc... probably wants his ship back! :love

Defiantly Slave 1. I thought this last episode was terrific, amazing visuals and very exciting. In fact I thought this story arc was great even with a slow start.

I enjoyed it immensely as well... I like Hondo even more so than Cad Bane! after the show I stayed on CN to watch Legos Star Wars The Padawan Menace and The Empire Strikes Out... laughed my ass off!!!! great fun! So glad SW is still very much alive!

I watched this with my nephew tonight and while I generally don't like the chatty Battledroids, I had to laugh at "We're under attack by miniature Jedi!" then "My knees!" :lol I really like Hondo now though. I love that he was still trying to fleece them for money at the end.

Hells yeah! Slave 1 in her ESB livery, bee-otches (apart from the sigal on her nose)! Some great action, and a nice resolution to the arc. Honda ended up a bit of a sentimental wuss, particularly after the build up, but all in all a satisfying conclusion.

Oh, and Edwardcullen, the arc from the previous season ended with Slave 1 crashing, after the crew abandoned ship, somewhere over the horizon. Def, for shizzle it's S1 that Hondo's got.

Me, too. Glad she didn't.

Girlfriend is going all the way. No way They would ever kill her off, she's been a touchstone character for young fans and girls and that is an area LucasFilm was missing the demographic. Now that Disney is at the top, forget it, they will run with that character to infinity and beyond!

I'm not entirely convinced she is going to be a long haul character. Well we know she's probably going to get whacked at some point between TCW and epIII. I'm thinking Anakin is going to have to decide between saving her or the Panda Bear or off her entirely. Just my guess... but I'm predicting some big conscience - killer on Ani's part with her demise.

She already opened up on him once pretty hard when she had that whole dark side possession thing going on when the prince tainted her. I mean, she really let him have both barrels about his teaching and overall treating of her ("snips", etc). I may be way off but I think there's lots of room there to have her defect to sithhood and face off with Anakin.

Now pair that idea with the concept of how appealing to young TCW viewers she is and you have a pretty good argument for what could happen. Agreed that it would be a really dark turn for cute, cuddly Ahsoka to go Sith and have to get hacked up by her Master. We shall see...
