CLONE WARS weekly discussion thread

"Only frozen water, it was. Easily broken." :lol

"Dumbasses you are...fail Padawan training you do. Your things collect can you, and out of my sight get.":lol

Couple of things that kinda stood out though...and not in a good way. Right at the beginging with the narration about what it's like to get selected for jedi training. WHAT?! If your kid gets "chosen" by a jedi, they quickly learn that the Jedi are their real family now?!!!! Good god that's ugly - who in hell would ever sign their kids up for that garbage? Or maybe, as it sounded, there's not a whole lot of choice for the parents - lightsabers make convincing negotiating terms. Jeesus, anyway that was creepy, and disgusting in equal measures. I hope the whole jedi order gets wiped out....

Second, if it requires muliple Jedi to open the path to the temple....so...how long WAS Yoda sitting in there waiting? Another helpful wartime move from the Jedi Grand Master who elected to "go into exile" and just kinda "sit out" the rise of the Empire.

Supposedly it's a great honor to have your kid chosen as a Jedi and most people willingly gave them up. It's not forced, they do give the parents a choice.

I think it's funny in the SW Episodes 7-9 thread that people arguing against any EU stuff in those movies, say how Luke's Jedi in the EU are stupid because they allow marriage, kids, etc. Well the way the Pre-ANH Jedi ran things worked out great huh?

I thought about that too. Not that Yoda was in there but the premise of opening the temple. I came to two conclusions.

  1. Much as the ice traps you (but hey, it is just frozen water) was more of a motivation for the lesson, so was the opening of the temple. Sort of like how in Mission Space at Epcot, you are assigned a task to push a button at the correct time to make the mission a success. In reality, the mission is going to play out the same way no matter if you push the buttons or not. So in this case, it probably is just in need of one Jedi to open it.

    or

  2. What is said is true, all members entering are required to use the force to help open the temple. But if only one member is there, it will take only one. If only two are there, then it takes both, and so on.

That episode was interesting, but I couldn't believe they didn't show them building their lightsabers. That's what everyone wants to see! Maybe it's a two parter, I don't know.

It was the first of a four part story arc. The name and description of the last three parts are as follows...

Part 2: Test of Strength - "The younglings fight pirates with improvised traps after they're attacked on their way home from Ilum."

Part 3: Bound for Rescue - "The younglings attempt to rescue Ahsoka from Hondo's pirates."

Part 4: A Necessary Bond - "General Grievous launches an attack on Hondo's settlement on Florrum; Ahsoka and the younglings aid Hondo in the fight."

Oh goody...Home Alone 9: Iiiiiiiinnnnn Sssppaaaaaace!!!!!!!

And "Great Honor" or not, they quickly learn that the Jedi are their real family now? Go so to hell, Clone Wars Jedi.

Regroup and let another who is stronger handle it...Anakin...eventually.

After decades of deceit, murder, genocide and the willful destruction of entire populated planets. You're not making a good case of Yoda being a good character if he believes these are all acceptable losses. Guardians of Peace and Justice my aunt fanny.

Not one of the better shows today. Glad to see Ahsoka getting her own story line though. The saber parts stuff was very much the Harry Potter wand shop.

SPOILERS
I have a feeling Anakin will rescue her and do bad things to her captors. Can't say this on a kid's show, but I was thinking Ahsoka's line to the pirates should be "When my master finds out what you've done, he's going to f*&k you up!"

Actually that is kind of how building a lightsaber was described in the novels way before Harry Potter. The droid was really telling them to build it to their preferences like a real sword maker or any sports equipment maker would. In Harry Potter they just say the wand will pick you or something.

These pirates aren't too bright anyway. You'd think they would know that a Knight or Master would most likely be with the Padawans. I hope Ahsoka gets herself out because she can't always just be rescued and like I said the pirates are stupid.

Actually I applaud them for taking Hondo, who was becoming almost a good guy, and putting him back into the neutral evil category where he belongs.

I love you have a galaxy so big hyperspace is required for travel but Hondo seems to be the only pirate in the entire universe......

I think the most likely senario will be that the padawans mount a rescue mission (hopefully with finished lightsabers). This story arc has coming-of-age plot line written all over it.

I hear ya, MJF, but that's the Ewoks vs stormtroopers all over again, and we all know how well that worked the first time. :thumbsdown

I'm also hoping to see Anakin moving towards the Dark Side a step at a time.

Still, this is a kids' show so it'll probably be the younglings to the rescue.
