CLONE WARS weekly discussion thread

Great episode...one of the best ones yet. HOWEVER, I also wonder about how this impacts Order 66, where the clones unquestioningly slaughter all the Jedi, even children. But you know what, I bet Filoni and Co. will make it all come together clearly, explain it all, and it will be cool. TCW seems to be a pretty effective way of filling in gaps the movie left unclear or unexplained. The nature of Order 66 will surely be explored.

We don't actually know what Order 66 is. It may not say 'kill all the Jedi'. It may be more generic. 'Execute all traitors' or something. Then you just plug in who the traitors are later.

That way, Order 66 could be taught to them from a young age as the greatest patriotic thing they could do.

General Krell is AWESOME!!!!!

I wish they could have kept him around a little longer. Rift Tamson is another character they should have kept longer. So far this season has been really good.

Sorry for a little off-topic, but the coolest character in my opinion in the whole series is pirate captain Hondo Ohnaka. I really badly want to make his suit for cosplay. I've just made a little 24 minutes long video with all his appearances from seasons 1 and 2, -(Here was link to Youtube, but Cartoon Networks claimed copyrights and removed video. So I've links removed, sorry)

well, based on the information from the novels you gave us (sorry I don't like to read Star Wars novels) Clone troopers are Like droids, some are programed to follow orders not matter what, and others
programed to have free choice depend of the situation.

It's not that literal. They are conditioned to follow the orders of their commanders, but they can think for themselves. The clone special forces just have more freedom to act independently. So apparently regular clonetroopers have conditioning that makes them more obedient.

There was an article in SW Insider a couple of years back that said what a bunch of orders were. Order 66 was exactly that the Jedi had turned on the Republic and were to be executed. I'm pretty sure it said something like "executed" because you obviously can't arrest a Jedi unless they let you. I'll have to see if I can find the issue to see exactly what it said.

Of course Lucas could change any of that if it wasn't his intent... or re-imagined intent.

I am sorry my role here is only to publish a link =)
But there is very detailed article about Order 66

"As noted, not all clone troopers obeyed the Order. On Murkhana, Roan Shryne and Olee Starstone were rescued from Order 66 by members of a clone commando unit. Led by Climber, they initially questioned the validity of the order, and even upon confirmation, refused to side with the government over those who had fought alongside them, having developed an affinity for the Jedi. Omega Squad, Delta Squad, and Ordo Skirata did not even hesitate to disobey the order, though all of them feigned compliance to avoid suspicion, as they had already formed doubts about Palpatine and his new Centax Clones. Captain Maze, as well, did not execute Arligan Zey. In all other recorded instances, Commandos and ARC troopers obeyed it."

This was interesting as well and something many forgot over time because they have not read the books.

"The first indirect mention of Order 66 was in the novelization of A New Hope, ghostwritten by Alan Dean Foster and published in 1976, which stated, that the Jedi were "exterminated through treachery and deception". When Revenge of the Sith first came out, some sources stated that Order 66 was preprogrammed into the clone troopers. However, George Lucas has stated that it was a "last resort" order, not preprogrammed. The order preceding Order 66 is Order 65, which stated that the Supreme Chancellor (had Palpatine not won the seat) would be removed from office by the GAR if the Galactic Senate declared him unfit for duty. The Jedi were obviously not aware of either order."

The Jedi were not even aware that the Clones were being made for quite some time so how would they have even known all their training over the years? They wouldn't have know, which enabled the clones and Palpatine to take full surprise advantage over them.

For the record...I did not like the last four episodes of Clone wars....how could the Jedi not have know he was turned to the dark side? You could see it in his mannerisms and actions and he even had a reputation for being reckless.

My guess with that is, this seemed like the first time we saw Krell working with others. Think about how much he kept away from the other Jedi. I mean if Palpatine can hide in plain sight for how many years, why not this guy?

Palpatine was like two seperate people. He was dripping with niceness when around regular people who did not know him as evil. He was extremely manipulative.

Krell was just not right....i mean he had a reputation of killing many clones at the point we see him in these episodes. Krell did not hide his reckless and evil darksided nature from the four episodes I watched.
I think this season has been poorly written so far and is my least favorite season up to this point.

He was more of a suckup to the dark side at this point. Just like there were people sure that the nazis would win.

It wouldn't be too hard for Krell to put off any suspicions by saying the losses were from combat situations. He probably would have taken just enough casualties to be acceptable losses and not look like he was purposely killing clones. The Jedi were distracted by the war and the Dark Side rising so it wouldn't have been too hard. Now if he was working alongside another Jedi, then they would spot it like most of the audience did.

I think the Jedi would have to be Force retarded to not see Krell was suspicious. I suspected from the first episode he was Sith, and I doubt I have a very high Midichlorian count.

Enjoyed "Kidnapped" quite a bit. I've been going back and forth about buying Season 3 (do I really want to invest another 25 bucks in this?!) but I'm firmly sold. After a rocky start, Season 4 is doing just fine.

It was pretty good. My problem is whether Obi Wan was just letting him get the crap beaten out of him to buy time or is this some revision about now Obi Wan is a wuss? He was buying time, but why not fight back some? I mean he went hand to hand with Jango Fett and held his own. Jedi are supposed to learn a style of martial art as well as fighting with their lightsabers.
