Classic Tron Lightcycle - Rereleased?

Anybody thought about a Tron cycle based group build......bit OT, but i think that would make a great group project?

lee

ralphee, that's very OT as that was my goal.

I was looking to put 3 tron lightcycles on an underlit grid. So I was considering this lightbox ($60 + S&H) and getting an acrylic display top made. Then I'd put glossy black contact paper and x-acto off the grid lines. Viola! Underlit grid. If anyone has a cheaper underlit solution, please speak up.

I'd love to see a super accurate model of a decent size happen.

What would be the perfect size though?

Also, using that lightbox as a base is a fantastic idea! Would look super classy.

Given the "simplicity" of the design, I think this could be made out of vac formed pieces. I would love to see a 1/4 scale version.

Nick Darling, Timeslip Creation made this 10" version in 2007. They are a member here, and I emailed their site and PM'd them here. No answer yet. 10" long would be sweet!

I don't know. quarter scale is kinda unwieldy.

Here's the 1/4 scale Legcy bike-
Sideshow Collectibles, Inc.

That thing measure's out to 28 inches long. A beast to display.

Something around the 8-12 inch size would be nice and easy to put on a book shelf or desk. And also could be placed on a lightbox display.

Yeah, the light box would look classy, but the LED base alone is $60 plus a custom made acrylic top would be expensive. I'm trying to find a bottom lighted acrylic display case that might be cheaper. Anyone know where I can find a cheaper solution?

No, the Sideshow Legacy Lightcycle is only 16.5" inches long. Still a substantial size, but not a problem to display. I pre-ordered one.

In the video I posted they are talking about a 1/4 scale statue I believe.

Also I just relized today that the original lightcycles are two toned! The center section is a slightly different shade that the side sections. The center section is slightly pailer.

Also I guess this thread should be in the modeling section.

Tee, hee... I ordered one of the Legacy bikes, that's why I would like an original bike in the same scale to display with it :)

Nick Darling, good eye on the center shade color thing.

This has already been moved to the "general modeling" section per my request. I felt it was going that way anyway.

I would like a large scale original Tron cycle to go with the new Hot Toys Legacy one too. Too bad Hot Toys isn't doing it.

I still like the orig cycles a lot and hoped that I could get an accurate large one. The Kevin Flynn classic one from Legacy would be cool too. Has Hot Toys suggested they might do it?

Found this too. Not sure if it's from the orig Lightcycle 3D renders for the 1st movie?

Yes, this is the best reference of the original cycle (but it is a bit compressed horizontally) and it is one of the references I used to make my cycle.

Hi everybody, I lurked around for a while. No time left to write into all the forums I read, sorry.

I'm the owner of ALB-LAB and I made the master for this one
Redshirt asked for a better price for 3 of them, and indeed, there is a bundle deal for 2 or 3 cycles.

Firefoxm31, spinner 44 and redshirt, thank you for your comments about my work.

Firefoxm31, what about painting your kit ? I'd like to see one painted. :)
