Civil War Wanda Maximoff

It looks amazing! I'm still just a begginer and it always amazed me what can be done! This might be a stupid question but did you sew the netting over the individual pieces and then assemble it? I keep rereading the thread and I couldn't figure it out.

I basted the netting around each piece individually. This way, I was treating the netting and the leather as one piece for each piece of the coat. Then I sewed it all up.

Just some reference pictures and gifs to add now that we have behind the scenes footage available :)

You can see a little bit of the back now (more than before at least! :lol ) and also confirmation that there's a long slit at the back of the coat :) Hope these are useful!

That's a lot of lift she's got going on there....
The back looks like some kind of fabric in the gif you posted. You can see it ripple as she turns.
Also, has anyone identified the ring on her left forefinger yet? I've never seen that one before.
I know they reused a few of her AoU rings early on in CA:CW, but I didn't think she was wearing any with the gloves.

Personally I don't think they've reused any of her AoU rings at all, you can see her CW rings in the below picture, and they're different from her AoU rings.

She does seem to wear different rings with her uniform, you can see that left forefinger ring better in this screencap, but I'm not sure if she wears any others.

Ok, I guess you're right. The pic of her CW rings I saw had really bad resolution, so I couldn't see clearly.
I really like the new ones!

Yeah, her CW rings are entirely different, though a lot of them do look to be past season Pamela Love rings, as well. The top of her corset in the first new pic posted looks like it's double bias taped, though I'm almost sure it's just a layer of sheer red fabric.

I'm also going to guess that the anchoring of the coat to the corset is at the sides and not on the bust from the way it moves with her. I'm still planning on going with hooks and eyes on mine.

Yeah they've definitely just tacked her into the coat, hooks and eyes sound like a good idea :)

I think the top of the corset is just sheer fabric too, you can see it in some exhibition pics like this one:

I need to rub n buff the zipper to dull down the shine, then put the bias tape on and the sheer trim at the neckline. When it's finished, I'll add eyes into the "boning" seams on either side of the zipper. I did manage to find crimson grommets, but IMO, they're too big and they're 00's. Maybe one side 00 and the other side eyelet would have worked better, for anyone else making this.

That looks awesome!! I can't wait to see the whole thing finished off!

Also Helena - I have more reference pics from that same lot if you were interested? I've been collecting them for months in anticipation of my own build :)

You should totally post them. Either in this thread or in Civil War gallery. I can't wait to see your build, watching cosplayers create things is literally one of the coolest things ever.

Great pics! I never noticed the detailing on her leggings on the outside of the knee before. And there definitely are suede panels in the coat too.

Yeah exhibition pics are great for those details you don't see/see much of in the movie :D That legging detail is at the back of her knee btw - not sure if it was for ease of movement or if it's just another one of those Wanda Aesthetics haha :p

I think the ribbing detail on the leggings is really cool stylistically, and they probably did it to break up the fact that they're just black leggings. Personally, I left that detail out for function, but there's a great Burda pattern that could be modded to fit this. I'll try and dig the number up.

These are the boots I decided to use. I was going to get a pair of heeled riding boots that already had a strap around the top, then just sew a "spat" with buckles and velcro it to the bridge of the bought boots. But. I found these and they're close enough for me at this point. I do plan on putting a lift in them so I have a little more height.
