I also have a production made Vader out of the same mould in my family, my uncle was a plasterer on Star Wars and Jedi (Also Raiders, Aliens and Brazil) and countless other productions through the 70's, 80's and 90's. Greg's uncle and mine must have crossed paths on many productions. The plaster shop was responsible for making moulds so my uncle used to bring stuff home for my cousins all the time. To us they were just toys and not the kind that stay in one piece in the hands of ten year old boys so unfortunately most perished long ago! (the crystal sword from Brazil wasn't made for fighting! :facepalm) Amazingly Vader survived in about the same condition as the one above and became my cousins cherished possession after my uncle's death. Seeing this has really brought back memories!

Good luck with the sale, I still really get a kick out of studying the runs, artefacts and fingerprints that have come from the original moulds. If you capture all these "flaws" these will make the most fantastic alternative to all the sanitized Vader's out there. :thumbsup

ZOLTAR

Apologies to any Brazil fans out there :devil

They must have crossed paths.... what was your uncle's name? I have a unit list here with everyones names who worked on Jedi. It has a list of plasterers.
Very cool you have one in your family too.... Got any pics you could share with me? PM me if you don't want to share publicly. :cool

Thanks Nick.

There are no ther casts like this available to the "public" this is a chance to own something normally only reserved for the select few. It does have a premium price but then it's a premium product.
I don't expect everyone to get it. Most people just want an idealised Vader helmet or a lisenced product these days. But for the real Vader fans who want something from the original mould that fathered all the ESB and ROTJ helmets seen on screen this is your chance.

It won't be around for ever and is limited. Also CFO is two man strong making artisan high end replicas not available anywhere else and not mass produced in a Chinese factory. They are all individually hand made by professional prop makers who have worked in the film industry making screen used props.

Thanks for your interest.

Cheers!

the piece is covered in an even layer of clay and on top of that cellophane then a fibreglass jacket is laid on top. In this case a 4 piece jacket. Once that has set it's taken apart, the clay is removed and the jacket reassembled around the piece. Then silicone is poured into the cavity left from where the clay was making an nice even silicone mould

Thanks.

When making the movie specific versions, will the source still be this helmet for both pieces? It sounds like the pieces are from two different movies. It seems like another source is needed or some rework to these which gets away from the cast from original aspect.

We will be reworking casts from these moulds. Unless of course you have a source of production made Vader helmets we could use? :lol

This run is for a unaltered cast.

Of course we will have to rework casts. It's rare enough to come across one production cast Vader helmet to mould let alone a trilogy of them.

This will still be the closest most people will ever get to owning a real helmet. The mould this came from fathered the ESB and ROTJ screen used helmets.

Thank the Force for the internet. Where we can live vicariously through other people's wallets :lol.

Seriously, I love watching this come together. I know I can't afford one, but KNOWING it's out there, and seeing it brought back to life is amazing.

Man, you should've put way more keys on that dome!

Why? We don't need any keys on the open part of the dome....

My good friend who is moulding this has worked in the film industry for 25+ years and has perfected mould making over many of these years. He made hero props for Hellboy, Batman, Star wars, Thunderbirds, Tomb Raider, Stardust, Sunshine and XXX, etc, etc.... I think he knows exactly what he's doing.
