Celebrity jerks?

I will go right along with Julie Benz being extremely unpleasant. SHe was at FX last year that I helped with and from the moment she walked in she complained. The thing about these actors getting paid to sign that people dont realize is that most of them get a gaurunttee to be there. SHe was gaurrunteed 6k. So that means no matter how many autos she signs she gets that no matter what. She also gets anything over the 6k. So promoters get nothing from them being there except to draw people to the show. On the flip side if they dont sign enough then they still have to pay her. She was the only one who didnt make hers and wasnt even close. Just looking at her she was so unapproachable. On the phone pissing and moaning about something.

We had a celebrity poker tournament for cancer that I was in and everyone was great but of course she couldnt be bothered.

If anyone meets Jewel Staite ask her about the UFC she is a huge fan and will really get a rise out of her. I talked with her, Morena Bacarin and Jonathon Frakes in a bar for about 2 hours about UFC and fishing along with many other topics. Just great people. Jewel and Morena are unbelievable stunning and tiny.

Funny what the "power of suggestion" can do...

Last night I dreamt I was at a convention and was going to meet Lou Ferrigno.

Went up to get his autograph and he sort points out his friend sitting with him and says something like "if he acts indifferent it is because he is totally deaf".

So Lou says something to me like a joke or something and I start laughing- well Lou's friend sees me laughing and thinks I'm laughing at him and gets upset.

So Lou stands up furious, yells at me "NO! NO LAUGHING!" and starts giving me the finger telling me to leave!

Crazy dream! :lol :wacko

Ive flown private jets out of L.A. since 1995 so to say who I have meet would breech confidentiality agreements that are in place. BUUUUUTTT...Most are cool except for the D listers who are flying on someone else's dime or the 'Cling-ons' as we call them. Secret trips to rehab, who is gay, drop off the wife, hop to another airport and pick up the mistress.....done that. You would be surprised how accurate The Enquirer is actually.

I ran into Omar Epps around 2am at the 7-11 down the street a few years back with his posse in tow. I was a little nervous at first when I saw 5 big dudes in the middle of the night. I walked up to the register an OE was there paying for his stuff. I said, "Hey you look familiar!" His buddy jumped in and said, "Thats Omar Epps!" I said, "Who?" "Omar Epps from House!" I played dumb and responded, "Oh you're the dude who lives across the street from me on XXXX Ave!" OE did a double take then smiled and said something like, "Oh yea you're the guy with all the cars and bikes."

I regularly run into Ozzy and Sharon, the coach from Friday Night Lights, Jonathon(sp) Frakes, Kim Kardashian was at a pool party the next door neighbor threw in August, Brandi was in my wifes tennis class (always late). I also heard that Klinger from MASH lived Kitty corner to me. Filthy McNasty moved out of the hood 2 years ago.:cry

I totally Forgot. I met John Lasseter aka Mr. Pixar and he was awesome. He is really laid back and a joy to speak with. I met him last year during the disney expo. My friend and I were in a closed off section. He was surrounded with tons of security and business people. We waited off to the side watching what was going on while they gave him a private tour. He came up to chat with us. Really friendly guy. He signed my program..

And

Danny Bilson aka the guy who wrote the rocketeer was awesome too. He was really friendly and enjoyed chatting with fans. He was at a screening of the rocketeer in los angeles and he brought his daughter to see the film. He stayed afterwards to chat with fans.

I can't believe I forgot to mention DeForest Kelly in my earlier post. I was at a con in Hunt Valley, Maryland, some years ago where the Trek guests were all actors who had played doctors -- De Kelly, Gates McFadden, Alexander Siddig (who was Siddig al Fadil then) and Robert Picardo. Mr. Kelly had announced in advance that he was not going to be signing autographs. I found myself on the hotel elevator with him and his wife, and we struck up a conversation -- he initiated it, in fact, asking me if I was there for the con. He brought up the subject of autographs; I said that I was thrilled just to meet him because I enjoyed his work so much, and he said that he would be happy to give me one anyway if I would promise to make a donation to the Humane Society. He actually took me back up to his room to get a "better picture" for him to sign. I could not believe how great he was. I wound up spending a fair amount of time with him and his wife and you couldn't have asked to meet two nicer people.

I'll add to the Dave Prowse list. When someone talks to you it isn't that hard to look them in the eye. Why sign for things if you are not even interested in interacting with people? He's just there for the money and his self-inflated sense of being an accomplished "actor" deserving of the same sort of recognition as Lawrence Olivier. Some had good experiences meeting him, mine was about as interesting as trying to fix a toaster.

See, I just don't get the Prowse situation. Why would you **** on your fans AND take their money? For that matter, why would you, as a fan, pay David Prowse to **** on you and sign your picture? I don't get EITHER side of that transaction.

I will let James Earl Jones treat me like crap once. Sorry, that is who I think of when I think of Vader...the voice.

Hah, I've got a great James Earl Jones experience! I live in Wilmington, NC where you may or may not know had a thriving movie industry at one time. He was here filming a movie for a while, and it happened to coincide with a festival we have every fall. This was in '96, right after Kenner started re-releasing Star Wars figures again. I was set up in a toy show that was going on as part of the festival when a friend of mine came running in and asked for two Vader figures. He told me that Mr. Jones was outside walking around the festival and he was going to try and get them signed. He came back in a said that he wouldn't sign them, so I handed them to my girlfriend and sugested that we try and get her to do it. She went, and came back in a said pretty much the same thing, he did not want to sign them as he feared he would then get mobbed with autograph requests and wouldn't get to walk around and see everything. No problem, very understandable and was very gracious to both of them, and everyone else. Thing is he did tell her the hotel where he was staying and said that if she dropped them off in the lobby, he would sign them and she could pick them up later. Naturally after that I had to go out and just say hello and thank him for his work. My girlfriend wrote a nice note thanking him for doing it and for one reason or another put my phone number on it. We dropped them off, and went home where I called a friend of mine to tell him that I met Mr. Jones. As I was talking, the line beeped as another call was coming in. I switched over and sure enough a deep voice on the phone said " Is Kristine there? This is James Earl Jones, and she dropped some figurines off for me to sign and I wanted to let her know that she could pick them up." I had my jaw hanging down, just in shock. I switched back to my friend and told him " Dude! Darth Vader just called my house!" Best ever!

I've got a bunch that were great, Jessica Biel, Brittany Murphy, Mel Gibson but the only one who was a jerk was Brian Dennehy. That guy is a ******* and treated the entire crew like dirt. He made a wardrobe person cry because he yelled at her for trying to take a continuity picture.

Solo - his treatment of me came after I'd already given my money to his assistant. The money was already gone. Had I known he'd be so rude, I would have skipped him completely.

I forgot I never signed a disclosure with my first charter company:love Soo.... I flew with Michael Dorn on a short trip to Mojave to do to training on a F-86 Sabre trainer. He was all giddy to go fly a real warbird, cant blame him. My first celebrity was Andy Garcia. He had in his contract to have a LearJet fly him to and from Van Nuys to San Berdino AFB where they were shooting his movie in converted hangar. He played a cop who was chasing a bad guy jumping out of the window of a hospital. Smoked a stogie on the way back to VNY. Really nice guy.

For those who live in LA, the wife and I saw Angelyne again at the grocery store. Not hard to pick her out in a hot pink Corvette. Her hair/wig/rats nest was filled with pink and red yarn. She just sat in her car texting. We stalked.. er waited for a couple of minutes just laughing trying to figure if she was waiting for an employee to bring out a courtesy rascal to ride on.

The wife and I met John Schneider of Dukes of Hazzard fame back in the 80's. We were at a hotel setting up for a trade show that we were putting on and he was sitting in a raised area in the lobby with a brass rail. This was a lounge/restaurant and he and his agent were waiting a meal following his concert that night. They were seated against the railing and very accessible. He's was very gracious and pleased to chat with us.

I went out to Long Beach, CA. in the late 80's for my Uncle's funeral and was surprised when I was introduced to Jim Backus' brother who was a friend of my Uncle. My Uncle was an Optometrist and apparently knew a lot of stars from back in the day but none came to the funeral.

My wife was brought on stage by Jim Neighbors for a number during his show in Reno.

That's about it as far as our celebrity meetings sadly.

Met a bunch of Sci-fi actors at conventions and lucky for me vip tours of Star Trek Voyager & Deep Space 9 as well as Babylon 5. Mira Furlan, Delenn from B5 was cold, no personality what-so-ever when I met her at a convention and bought a pic/autograph -I mentioned to her I got to tour Babylon 5 sets, she was like - "uh huh" She realy didn't care, just wanted her money and for me to move on - no appreciation for fans at all. Then a couple years later, the friend who got me the 2 B5 Tours, could not make a convention I was going to in LA - Mira and Claudia Christian were both going to be there - my friend had behind the scenes personal pics with both of them (he was on set dozens of times, is friends with Bruce Boxleitner), and he had me take them with me to the convention to get autographed. Mira saw the pic, and said "that's nice, but I'm charging for my autograph" I didn't ask for a freebie, that was her response - even someone she knew from the set, had to pay! Claudia Christian lit up when she saw the pic of herself with my friend Mark - I offered to pay, she said "oh no - give Mark my best!", signed the pic and handed it back to me.

chipping in regards Mira Furlan, when I got autographs from the B5 cast at the big UK con I didn't see her as rude, more a little intimidated/nervous which could have been construed as cold. After I'd got my autograph I was at a booth across the way so was able to observe her for a bit and that's what it seemed to me. Of course that in no way excuses charging for a personal behind the scenes photo. that's a bit low to me.

claudia christian on the other hand is a hoot. When I was talking her while she was signing my autograph I asked her a question. it was something like " you play a lot of tough female roles, (stuff she'd done before like robot jox, B5 etc) I asked her is she ever wanted to do something more ....well fluffy.

and she went all ivanova on me. very deep voice, very serious and I thought uh oh.but then she broke into a huge smile and broke up laughing, it tickled her.

Jason carter was also hilarious. spent a lot of time with each fan, genuinely pleased to speak to people. In the end the con organisers had to politely ask him to speed up cos the queue was getting backed up.

Bruce boxleitner was a bit more reserved but when I asked him how his kid was (I knew they'd been recently ill) he really softened up and talked to me for a bit while signing some stuff. (I actually had a few more items than allowed but I thought I'd take a chance and he just signed them no fuss)

JMS was a tough one to get. he wasn't signing any at the con that year but during one of the skits in the main hall between andreas katsulas and peter jurasik. I think they were doing a londo and g'kar do shakespeare piece I spotted JMS stood at the back of the hall to one side. I snuck round, approached the con staff with him and asked if he would sign something. One of them sort of coughed, JMS looked over, and just signed it, no questions asked. shook my hand, asked me if I was enjoying the con and then went back to watching the skit.

Don't know if this qualifies but back in the 80's and early 90's I had some of my cars on the national show car circuit. Back then they always had 4 or 5 Playboy or Penthouse centerfolds at the shows. All the girls are very nice, I can only think of one who was stuck up in all those years. Most were big flirts. Suprising the college degrees most of them had...guess they could afford the tuition.
