Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Post-release)

I bought mine on VUDU, but am absolutely livid by how cruddy of service the app provides on both the XB One and XB 360. I have plenty of bandwidth to receive HDX quality, but the app is sooooo buggy. Signs me out, service randomly disconnects, stalls.... From doing further research it looks like it's going on with everyone as well.

It just blows my mind that these powerful gaming systems and VUDU are just not talking to each other well and that they have dropped the ball so bad on making a stable app. I bit the bullet though and decided to get a ROKU 3 since they seem to be incredibly reliable and specifically built for media streaming.

I have a home theater with 7.1 and 100" projector screen and it just really ruins the movie experience when you get that dang loading ring rotating and stalling. I will be getting the physical media Blu-Ray as well to enjoy, but just wanted to watch Winter Soldier so bad again. Easily one of the best movies of the year and arguably one of the top Marvel films to-date.

That's disappointing to hear since I swear by VUDU. Works great on my PS3, my BR player, and all my Android devices, and this is on my crappy home internet :lol I basically buy all my EST content with them. My only beef is their VUDU to Go app on Windows has some slight sound issue when playing HDX but it's pretty minor.

It's available digitally but will be available on Blu-ray on September 9. And then there is the following.

Captain America The Winter Soldier Blu-ray Pre-Orders Blocked By Amazon-Disney Dispute - CinemaBlend.com

This is really annoying me, as I always order from Amazon and get it delivered on its street date. I didn't realize that Amazon caved on Muppets though so hopefully as we get closer to Sep 9 they'll carry it. Otherwise I'll probably just go to Target to get their exclusive provided it's sold in stores at the current $22 price. I'm flying out to my honeymoon on the 10th so there is some sense of urgency here as I'm not leaving for Hawaii without that damn movie :D

Any reason they couldn't bring in The Punisher, if nothing else as a cameo? Marvel owns that, right?

Would have been cool if they did a brief thing in Avengers with Chitauri flyers being shot out of the sky and the team all look around like "Who's shooting them?" and then they show Frank on the roof of a building, picking up a sniper rifle and moving out of sight, looking back briefly as if he knew they had made him.

They could have done something like that with Spider-Man as well. Chitauri getting hung up in a giant web between skyscrapers (kind of like the original teaser before 9/11 with the Twin Towers), and then briefly show a sillouette swinging away. It would be inferred it's Spider-Man without actually showing the costume or having any real interaction. Would that be some sort of property violation?

All the producers would have to do is say, "Yep that was Spidey!" and then BAM! Lawsuit.

I personally (If I were Sony's people) reach out to Disney and make some license deal in giving him an appearance. Everyone makes money and the audience is happy. However I know that then becomes Disney's concern about Spidey's world and the Avengers world coexisting and as it looks right now they definitely don't coexist.

I was thinking that as well.... Disney just saying, "we want him to do a 10 second cameo. Not a major supporting role in the film... just an acknowledgement that he does exist in the Marvel universe. What's it gonna cost our multi-trillion $ networth corporation to have web head in a Marvel movie?"

I heard that they were going to try and put the avengers tower into the city that the first amazing spiderman was set in, but ran out of time.

What? I thought it was supposed to be the OsCorp building in Avengers 1 during the Battle of New York.

Back to talking about Cap: TWS... I think I'm going to pick up the Best Buy steelbook version. Also, debating about these plushies to get once the movie comes out. Leaning towards all three. Yes they look ridiculous, but also adorable.

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Anybody else picked up the Blu-ray or DVD yet? Must have rewatched this movie another 5 or 6 times this week already, LOL!

The gag reel that was included was pretty cool too, with quite a few laughs that really made my day, including the few they added to youtube earlier this month:

The guys at HISHE also did a fine job with their usual parody of the movie:

Great stuff!

Wow... ridiculously good point on the face camouflage thing... DUH!!! Or call in his totes besties, the Avengers for help. DUH DUH!!!!
Ok... thanks for ruining this movie for me. I was really trying to keep from sharpshooting this one, but I guess sooner or later it had to happen.

If you haven't seen the movie this was a bit of a daft thread to come into to avoid spoilers.

He meant "ruining the movie" as in that he now will over-think all the aspects of it, not that he hasn't seen it.

Well, the face camoflage thingy or "photostatic veil" wasn't given to Black Widow until after they were brought to the hideout by Maria Hill. To HISHE's defence, you only find out about that in one of the deleted scenes on the Blu-ray. I guess it's on the DVD as well.

:facepalm

So, I paused the movie during the algorithm sequence and saw a bunch of names of people that were targeted:

Maria Hill
President Matthew Ellis
Lt. Marcus Bledsoe
Michael Lindon
Anthony Stark

Of course Maria Hill and Tony Stark we all know, as well as President Ellis who featured in Iron Man 3. Does anyone know who Lt. Marcus Bledsoe and Michael Lindon are supposed to be? I tried googling those names but couldn't get anything. Also, when targeting Stark/Avengers tower, there is a grid of 6-8 mugshots of targets (one of which is Tony) I don't know who the others are and the names that are shown in the targeting are too small to be seen. Anyone have any ideas?

I did a brief search on IMDb for some of those names. Only hits for last names and only more common ones. Not sure where they came up with the other ones.

Are you kidding?
If there's a spidey cameo Sony should pay Marvel.

Funny how that works, right?
If Marvel has an appearance of a can of Mountain Dew, Snickers, and a Ford car.... they get sent a check.
If Marvel has an appearance of Spider-Man they'll probably get hit with a >$million lawsuit.
