Captain America: Brave New World

Kevlar weave plain cloths when fighting regulars
Wacanda tech when fighting red hulk.
Not sure on the physics of the maneuvers affecting him. It just happens.

Why he is cap without the serum is a plot point and directly addressed.
That Kevlar didn't stop an entire knife blade going into his chest, which he showed no reaction to - no pain, no nothing. He just pulled the blade out immediately (which you should never do with a puncture wound of any kind) and went about his business with a knife wound and broken ribs), no affect on his abilities at all. That's bad writing AND bad acting.

Also a hatchet in the side….
Was just commenting on it as the in world explanation( ridiculous as it was ) was just a quick throwaway line “Kevlar weave”

My wife and I went to see it last night, and both agreed it was decent. It’s probably not a movie with repeat viewability, but it was good to see. Harrison Ford and Gincarlo were my favorite parts, and I enjoyed the “espionage” or governmental elements of it.

The movie was a little long, and I felt like it could have just as easily been a 4 part Disney+ series. I’d give it a solid 7/10, comparative to the last few years’ MCU movies. For movies overall, it’s more of a 5.5/10.

It’s funny…I can always predict who on this board will give every Disney Marvel film a glowing review and who will trash it. (If you think you don’t have a clear pattern in your commentary on this board, you’re wrong, in either case).

Reality is probably somewhere in-between.

I think I'm not part of this (I'm critical, but there's lots of Disney Marvel films & series that I like and some that I dont. I can be critical of all of them to varying degrees, though.

As far as how good or bad this movie is, the concensus thus far has been poor.
Meta-critic, which I find to be a little better indicator of review averages than rotten tomatoes, has the critical aggregate score at 42 out of 100, while the audience average sits at 4.3 out of 10. So far, critics and reviews are averaging out pretty equal to each other.

I can still see some people enjoying it, some people hating it, and some thinking it was just okay, but my personal take is that it's not good. Not the worst movie, but mostly it just failed at being intetesting. I have zero interest in ever watching it again. It lacked in story, characters, dialog, and action. Not even any surprise cameos of interesting characters that we have or haven't seen in the MCU before (sorry if that's a 'non-spoiler' spoiler).

I have insomnia and I fell asleep during it. It wasn't horrible, it was just ok. I was excited about a certain D-list character being introduced but was let down.

I have rarely watched any of these big Disney/MCU movies in years. I usually find them more interesting as production disaster stories.

Some fans will call it trolling or dunking on them. But I don't see it that way. Star Wars ANH had a disastrous production. So did most of James Cameron's biggest hits.

A movie can be a production disaster and still turn out great. It usually doesn't, though. I'm just speculating and being realistic about it.

Saw it yesterday. I thoroughly enjoyed it and appreciated the connective tissue it had to The Incredible Hulk, The Eternals, and Falcon & The Winter Soldier. Cool to see Harrison Ford back in a presidential role. Seemed like one the of better installments post End Game, will probably be seeing it again.

I think we also live in such an either/or world, people refuse to allow something to just be okay. It has to be perfect or the worst thing ever.

This is a movie that was just okay.

Yeah, as I age, I don't want to waste time on "just okay".

For me, the MCU ended at Endgame, and I'm good with that. Happy that folks can enjoy the next phases, but I've left feeling quite satisfied.

I agree. For me, Doctor Who ended with Matt Smith.

Everything else has just been titled Doctor Who.

Same here. I was getting bored of the MCU before Endgame and haven't seen a single movie, outside of Guardians 3, since. I don't care anymore. Unless they start making movies comparable to the early stuff, I have zero interest.

Same here, I liked all of the tie-ins to previous films. I also liked that Disney is finally starting to hint at another Avengers movie and what it might be about.

But I do have two questions about this film:

1) Was the new Falcon and Ro'ss personal Widow in previous movies or shows? I want to say that we were introduced to the new Falcon before he became the new Falcon. Ruth (the Widow) looks familiar, but I'm not sure if she in a previous Marvel movie or show.

2) How does the Etnernals fit into the greater MCU and will we be seeing them again? For a while it seemed like Disney was trying to pretend that The Eternals never happened, but in BNW we see that it did, even if they didn't acknowledge The Eternals themselves (I think),

Based on the trailers, I had no interest in seeing this. This thread is not convincing me otherwise. Waiting for Thunderbolts.

The new Fantastic Four is supposed to be part of the MCU, so, with Galactus being there, he eats planets, THEY eat planets, we may have a problem at the buffet line.

Also adamantium being more gooderer than vibranium is going to prolly continue in a war for resources.

Ross as Red Hulk, opens uo a whole bunch of possibilities. No where near physically as strong as Green Hulk in the fuh-ilm but his energy abilities weren't really featured. Especially with you-know-who back, to go on walks with him.

It opened up a lot of possibilites/opportunities
