Captain America: Brave New World

You made me throw up in my mouth!

I wonder if Red Hulk will be “found out”, as to his secret identity, when he starts pointing at people…

“It’s General Ross!!”

Overall, I thought the trailer looked good. It had Winter Soldier vibes which was one of, if not, maybe the best MCU movie. I doubt this one will be that good, but it looks like it'll be decent. I have to say though watching it again, I think the Red Hulk teaser could have been done better. We know who Red Hulk is because most of us here are familiar with the comics, so we understand why they showed him. Imagine though a "normie" watching this. It would look so random. They'd be thinking, "Why is the Hulk in this and why is he red???" They could've set up the teaser a little better imo.

I've heard of the Red Hulk. Seen pics in the past in comic, but know nothing of the character.

And full disclosure: I had no idea where people were even seeing this in the trailer until I watched it again... Though this time I watched it past the end title into the trailer teaser ending. :p

I think if they couldn't give Sam the serum, they should have made that a plot point. Then have a "training sequence" where Sam tries to figure out how to make that identity his own using his strengths. He could come up with new attacks using his wings (which they have done to some extent in the TV show). Just don't have him doing Steve Rogers things that he shouldn't physically be able to do. I was never a huge comic book fan, but watched the movies/shows and I always liked the characters that didn't have powers, but still could fight. So he's right up my alley (love him as Falcon already), they just need to write him well, which I'm skeptical about in 2024.

Part of the problem is diminishing returns... we've already seen Captain America stand toe to toe with "gods" and even Thanos. He was the last man standing in the iconic scene in Endgame. Sam Wilson should be fighting local bad guys... maybe terrorists. But he can't begin to match Steve Rogers without the serum.

Yeah, they made a big deal out of Sam being able to be Captain America even though he doesn't have super powers...but the thing is, he does. I mean, his powers are derived from technology, but they're still powers. It's like saying Iron Man isn't super powered. Tony Stark may not be, but when he's in the suit, he is. Same with Sam Wilson. I don't think anyone wants Sam Wilson without the Falcon tech as Captain America, with just the shield and some military training. Look at how that worked out for John Walker.

There's always been an unclear sense of what the "normal" human heroes can and can't do in the MCU. Black Widow and Hawkeye have no super strength, no healing abilities, yet do things in fights that they really shouldn't be able to do. I guess it's easier to suspend our disbelief when they're fighting alongside real powered individuals like Cap, Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk.

They didn't go into this or state it at all in the movies, but in comic book canon Natasha is the recipient of a Soviet attempt at a super-soldier serum. Not as successful as Cap's serum, but enhanced physical abilities and slowed aging. She's about 50 years older than she looks.

I predict that this will bomb.

Agreed.

But I doubt it will have much to do with the movie's quality either way. Superhero flicks are suffering from genre fatigue and Anthony Mackie is not one of the top stars. This thing never had the potential to recoup what they dumped into it.

I'd guess that's why they brought Harrison Ford on board instead of getting Sam Elliot to reprise his role, trying to draw more eyes.

Yeah I think so too.

IMO there would be room to question the investment even if Chris Evans was playing Cap. It's not 2011 anymore. It takes a lot of sales to pay off a $250+ budget. There is no longer a good interlocking Marvel storyline to help support each entry.

I guess they’re counting on Red Hulk to be the draw.

I just hope it doesn’t become Woke New World.

Just give me a superhero with the only agenda being to save innocent people and fight bad guys.
