can't update my avatar

I went into my control panel and tried to edit my avatar. I browsed my files, selected an image, and hit update avatar. It went back to my current avatar

The I removed my current avatar, selected an image from my files, and updated. Again, it reverted to my current avatar.

The image I'm using is about 250x250, but the image resize option seems to be on. Any thoughts?

You were correct in deleting your current avatar. Delete it again, then close your browser. Then open it back up, upload the new avatar and see if that works.

Basically, you are updating your avatar, but your browser has the old one cached in your browser memory. Flush your cache and you should be okay, but the closing browser thing sometimes works and is easier.

p.s. is your new avatar a B&W photo of a samurai? If so, it's already uploaded. Just get your browser to update.

Yeah, it's the samurai. What do you mean "get your browser to update?" I'm stupid. Let me see if I can do this.

PS. (moments later)...this time I deleted my avatar. I closed my browser. I opened my browser, went to the RPF, and signed in. I uploaded my new avatar. My old one showed up.

Do I need to like delete files or clear history in between deleting the old and uploading the new? I'm reeeeaaaallly not much of a cumputer guru...or even competent

OK, I finally did what I should have done in the first place--got my wife to do it.
