Crazy risky stuff, but I think it paid off. Lol

Yep. He had them labeled wrong. He read the style number wrong and thought the three was an 8. 2480s instead of 2430s.Recently?
Nice!! Lucky!!Yep. He had them labeled wrong. He read the style number wrong and thought the three was an 8. 2480s instead of 2430s.
Ok, so first things first...if you are going to attempt anything, you have to clearly understand that I obviously cannot accept any backlash if anything goes wrong. It's solely your decision to attempt any alteration to your frames!...As you are probably aware, the 2430's are really hard to obtain. They look good! How did you remove the black paint? Ok, apologies if that all sounds a bit unfriendly explained in words, but it needed saying!
I actually had no idea what I was doing really, but had a guess at using my wife's acetone nail varnish remover - (which reminds me to get her another bottle! Lol).
I suppose I might have tried car paint stripper if I had any!
I let the frame fronts sit in the remover for about 5 mins, but nothing really happened. I left it there another 5 mins and used an old credit card (which I filed a sharp edge onto) to help scrape off the paint.
The card was instead of using any sandpaper or metal edge, which would ultimately scratch the chrome underneath.
It didn't come off easily at all, it took me about 3 hours+ to get it off. It was fiddly, awkward and damn frustrating, not to mention stressful - given that I knew what I was doing to a pair of 2430's!
I kinda hit the point of no return and was thinking "what the * am I doing!"
In between "scrapes" I was rinsing the frames in water, incase the acetone (if left on too long) may have "attacked" the chrome finish.
It was a bit of a nightmare TBF, and I'm not recommending it. There may be a better, safer and quicker way to achieve this, but that's how I did it.
I keep checking my 2430's 'cos I'm a bit paranoid something may change with the chrome finish...so far, its still all good...phew!!
I would obviously recommend just buying the silver frame in the first place!
I not sure if there are different strengths of acetone, so you would have to also consider that as a factor.
A lucky rabbit's foot and a four leaf clover during the process wouldn't be a bad idea! Lol
They do sales fairly often.Do you know if there Initium does some sales like summer sales or Black Friday ?
