Can't find Tony Stark's sunglasses from Iron Man 3

Just want to give a big shout out to Ken0415 and UV400 and Gotmeth366.

To Ken for alerting me to and recommending that I buy, the Warby Parker Cass the other day. Absolutely love them!

And to UV400 and gotmeth366 for inspiring me and giving me the confidence to do my first ever donor lens swap (very cheap Dita knockoffs) with some decent cutting/filing modifications required. Far from perfect, but adequate for my first ever attempt...at least for now. Definitely have a bit of a better idea what to do different next time and perhaps more importantly, what NOT to do. Don’t worry though, I KNOW they need work...the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step! But a wise man once said “sometimes you’ve gotta run before you walk,”

Thanks guys!

The same man said:
"Part of the journey is the end."

I think they are Garrett Leight Preston 47□21 139 with custom light blue lenses.

It's hard to tell the frame color from the pic though, the colors available that I've managed to find so far:

(UM-M-AU) umber-mocha-auburn frame
(BRG-RG-NU) brick red frame
(MGT-G-TD) marigold-tortoise gold-true demi
(SIT-S-B) sienna tortoise frame

UV400 walk us through the tools and process of donor lens making my man.

I wanna save up on lenses too
What I'll do for you guys (which should be better than just trying to "describe" the process), is the next time I make some lenses, I'll take some reference pics as I go and try to make a decent "how to" guide.

If nobody minds though, I'm going to coin the phrase the "UV Method", as it's a bespoke technique that didn't previously exist!! :D

I've said earlier that it was born out of pure necessity and perfected through lots of trial and error.

As most of the frames here require customs, I've done a lot, easily running into over two hundred. o_O
The step by step process will really help, but ultimately, it's the practice more than anything, to hone your skills into a steady handed precision craft!!(y)

The skill will be of benefit, not just as a relevant hobby (which this year came in handy) but in addition to being able to make your own lenses to your color choice, you can also replace damaged or marked lenses with new ones.

As cheap reading glasses in most strengths are in abundance, you'll also be able to save money making your own stylish designer reading glasses out of any frames in your collection, meaning as the years inevitably roll on, your sunglasses will have duality and longevity, proving themselves not just as a cornerstone style accessory, but as a solid purposeful investment.

That last bit sounded rather good:D, I think I'll use it when in defence of buying frames to the missus!! Haha:lol:

If you give me a bit of time, I'll try to get something together for everyone to use as a reference.;)

Is it bad to buy a pair of frames just for the case, soft sleeve and product tag? There was a pair of Roy Tower frames on eBay with that and I couldn't resist. The case don't fit the Concept 2 so that kinda sucks so I'll keep looking but it gives it a more "complete" feel.

There's nothing bad with that at all, if anything, it's totally the opposite!!

From our collector's point of view, a frames value and future appeal is more complete with its original presentation box, case, cloth and paperwork.

It's something I've also been doing for my collection, to add to the value and rarity.
I too have been snapping up correct box/case/cloth combos to enhance any gaps or missing elements in my collection. If the price is right, IMO, it makes no real difference if there is a random frame included.

So nice to hear from you dude!! Hope you are well;)

Still super jealous of your Roy Towers man!!:D

Anyone have a pic of what ‘crystal’ Initium British Steel’s look like on a persons face? I can only find one pic of a black pair on the socials.

I’ll get you one today if you’d like as I have a pair. Raining here today I’m afraid but I’ll get you a shot inside. Hope that will help!

Thank you for helping me justify!! I know I'm not alone, but it just helps to hear it my new thing is finding more brand displays as I'm considering more display cases. I have Revo, Oakley, Dita, Ray Ban, Oliver Peoples and Von Zipper. Ken sent me a Paul Smith one that I didn't buy and I'm angry at myself for not. So if anyone sees any displays/signs/plaques or whatever they're called let me know please.

All is well over here, my wallet is mad at me (what else is new), I hope all is well with you and you're staying safe. Looking forward to the release of the UVMethod soon.

I'm still interested in BondtoStark idea for a virtual happy hour, if that's still on the table one day!

Thanks Gotmeth!

We really should plan a virtual/zoom cocktail hour soon. It would be fun (I think) to interact with other like minded individuals and discuss MCU and of course related eyewear. Have an adult beverage if you are so inclined and enjoy each other’s company and collective wisdom!

To any and all who may be interest, reach out to me via DM preferably and I’ll put the wheels in motion to make it happen. Even if it’s just a small number of 4-5 people (however the more the merrier) it could be really fun and something different to help lift our spirits (pun slightly intended) during this unusual time in our world!

Thoughts?!
